Taking charge of my well being!

Taking charge of my well being!

Hello All,

I decided today not to go to hospital. I have a new psychiatrist, meeting a new social worker next week and I have another lovely social worker who meets with me, as well as a great GP who is always there for me.

I decided today that it is time to take charge of my well being myself. So as I am exploring new ideas I will keep a little diary here and perhaps it is useful for some other people that are struggling along the way.

I really want to look at the good sides of my life history. I have a lot of trauma to go through, but I don't want to forget the good times. So I made a random selection of photos of my husband. I want to make a scrap book and capture the love and the memories. In the book 8 Steps to Trauma Recovery there is a section about start with the end, or something like that. I made it through the trauma and I want to celebrate that I made it and capture the good times while I am feeling better. Over time I want to add my kids, my friends, my family, my uni years, my school years... whatever, one at a time, savouring the good times...

I know that just because I feel well today, tomorrow is another day. But it is ok, I will work on my ideas when I can. When I feel I can.

Big hugs to all x

Hi @Former-Member

You have great qualities that come out in what you choose to post and not post.

Take care, thinking of you

Re: Taking charge of my well being!

Good morning,

I feel drained today. I feel like I am very close to a check mate position. All strategies and moves I make to my best knowledge and intention - but the other person is making moves I've never even thought of.

I want to get off those dreadful meds. I think they cloud my vision. I feel dead inside. I have no energy or drive - this is not me. The little fighter in me that survived it all is numbed - I've got to free that little fighter. This is my life, what is this shit doing to my brain?

Hi @Former-Member

Sorry to read you are not in a good spot at the moment 😞

Pls be gentle with yourself, what plans do you have for today?

Re: Taking charge of my well being!

Hi @BlueBay

I am still in my pjs. I need to get showered and go to work, I am already late, but thankfully I only have one one hour meeting today and apart from that I can do "my real work". I think the added stress this week combined with longer work days, constant meetings and early mornings has just taken its toll.

I am just struggling with all the new emotions coming up that I actually don't know - shame, guilt, regret, grief... - I've never felt so many different feelings, and I just don't know what to do with them. I just want to stop them and go back to fighting mode & happy mode. j

Re: Taking charge of my well being!

Hi @Former-Member. I'm struggling with many of those emotions you listed but no doubt for very different circumstances. They can suck the life out of you. Hopefully today work will be a bit easier and let you breathe s bit. Thinking of you💜💐

Re: Taking charge of my well being!

Hi @Former-Member

With those different emotions that you're feeling - are you able to sit with it and write down what it is that is making you feel like that eg. feeling shame. I know it's not easy as I struggle with these emotions but for different reasons. But I remember in group therapy we used coloured balls (don't know if you have seen my post on that) and we got to hold different coloured balls - green=guilt, red=anger; blue=sadness; yellow=anxiety. We would then chose a ball, hold it and talk about it, how that emotion affected your body where you felt the emotion. I found it helpful because I could express my emotion although at times it was very emotional.

I totally get what you're saying about wanting to stop all the emotions and going back to being happy mode.

Hope you have an okay day 🙂

take care xxxooo

Re: Taking charge of my well being!

Still have not made it to work.

I really appreciate your comments.

I feel so alone. I feel like my medical team is letting me down, I need to get on with my life, what is life worth the way it is now? I want to stop thinking. About the past. I want my energy back. I think I just want to get off those meds and see if I can deal better on my own? I feel like they're making everything worse. I think even writing here makes me worse, instead of concentrating on living and getting my lazy bum to work, I'm just lifeless. I just wanna kick the self pity out of myself and stop being such a soppy cow. I feel like people really want me to get that bad that I don't get a choice in going to hospital. I think it is all about making money. I am just tired. There is so much to live for I just need to wake up and get my head out of the fog.

Re: Taking charge of my well being!

Aw @Former-Member

It is too hard to "like" your post because it is so sad and so desperate

btw - you are not rolling around in a pity-party - you are battling - and I have read posts for years and know the difference - really well

You know - for some reason we were not given the gift to see ourselves - I know people stay in their jammies all day and why not - I did on Tuesday - and I would have today - but it's too cold

So wherever you are you might be cold too - and staying at home when you are feeling so bad is a good idea

The name of this thread is Taking change of my well being - and so that's what you are doing

You hate your medication - I can't comment on that - that is between you and your doctor and it would be wrong of me to suggest anything about that - except a lot of people hate their medication.

You feel as if your medical team is letting you down - well whatever - your feelings are real - maybe they are not addressing what the deep problem is - maybe they haven't found it yet - they are human too - alas - maybe they are thinking about making money but I also think a lot of them have our best interests at heart - and they can't read minds either - which is a pity - how great if they could

You will find your way out of the fog - it's hard - that's all

Take it easy on yourself

Re: Taking charge of my well being!

I have made it to work - Yay, and I'm not in my pjs.

Thank you for all your encouraging messages @BlueBay @Former-Member and @Decadian.

My head is throbbing but I'm refusing to take one lot of meds (the ones I'm supposed to take as needed - and I needed them a lot lately). I'll write more later.

Big hugs to all!
