Taking charge of my well being!

Taking charge of my well being!

Hello All,

I decided today not to go to hospital. I have a new psychiatrist, meeting a new social worker next week and I have another lovely social worker who meets with me, as well as a great GP who is always there for me.

I decided today that it is time to take charge of my well being myself. So as I am exploring new ideas I will keep a little diary here and perhaps it is useful for some other people that are struggling along the way.

I really want to look at the good sides of my life history. I have a lot of trauma to go through, but I don't want to forget the good times. So I made a random selection of photos of my husband. I want to make a scrap book and capture the love and the memories. In the book 8 Steps to Trauma Recovery there is a section about start with the end, or something like that. I made it through the trauma and I want to celebrate that I made it and capture the good times while I am feeling better. Over time I want to add my kids, my friends, my family, my uni years, my school years... whatever, one at a time, savouring the good times...

I know that just because I feel well today, tomorrow is another day. But it is ok, I will work on my ideas when I can. When I feel I can.

Big hugs to all x

@Former-Member

Having an early night. Today is just a day where all I can do is go asleep and hope for a better morning.

Sorry to hear you haven't been well either. I wish we could understand what is happening to us - like having the flu and you know OK it's just temporary. I just feel so out of place, I see the worry in my husbands eyes and I just don't understand why I can't get myself to just push through. I just feel like I'm failing.

Early night sounds good @Former-Member i too often feel like I'm failing. Try and think of how you are achieving. Can you think of ways that you are achieving? It can be difficult to see the positive things, when we are constantly battling our awful feelings.

Have you tried mindfulness? I am trying to do it every day. I am still working on it. It can take a while to notice any changes, but aparently it really does help with anxiety, depression etc. I am determined to give a good try. Some days I do ok with it and then I'll get knocked out emotionally by something/somebody in life and it can be hard to concentrate on relaxing with mindfulness.

I just made wholemeal pikelets with cream and maple syrup, oh my gosh! Delicious.

i hope that you sleep well and wake up feeling better. xo
