Taking charge of my well being!

Taking charge of my well being!

Hello All,

I decided today not to go to hospital. I have a new psychiatrist, meeting a new social worker next week and I have another lovely social worker who meets with me, as well as a great GP who is always there for me.

I decided today that it is time to take charge of my well being myself. So as I am exploring new ideas I will keep a little diary here and perhaps it is useful for some other people that are struggling along the way.

I really want to look at the good sides of my life history. I have a lot of trauma to go through, but I don't want to forget the good times. So I made a random selection of photos of my husband. I want to make a scrap book and capture the love and the memories. In the book 8 Steps to Trauma Recovery there is a section about start with the end, or something like that. I made it through the trauma and I want to celebrate that I made it and capture the good times while I am feeling better. Over time I want to add my kids, my friends, my family, my uni years, my school years... whatever, one at a time, savouring the good times...

I know that just because I feel well today, tomorrow is another day. But it is ok, I will work on my ideas when I can. When I feel I can.

Big hugs to all x

Re: Taking charge of my well being!

Hi @Former-Member

Last night we tried to call our son overseas but no answer. We then sent many text messages, no replies. We tried facebook - nothing.

For about 30 minutes I was panicking thinking of the worse - why hasn't he phoned. An hour later he calls me and I asked why he didn't call. He said there was no wifi close by. He was good, he had done some tourist things. He is off to London today, so he said he will call tonight our time.

I was able to sleep okay after hearing him.

Hi @BlueBay

I am so glad your son called and soon you will feel more confident with him travelling on his own.

I'm just filling up on some Dutch courage so I can write a few things for my psychiatrist. I just wanna get pissed and write down all I never can write. Then I take my meds and go asleep.

Things have derailed a bit lately, all I wanna do is numb my confusion.

I feel like being on a watch list again - check in with your psych, keep in touch, call your GP - what on earth have I said in the last couple of days???

Hi @Former-Member

Yes I am feeling a bit more comfortable with my son overseas. Although I will be much more comfortable when he comes home!!!

His flight has been delayed but he will call when he lands.

Good idea in writing things down for your psych, i do that sometimes.

Take care, hope you have a good night sleep. I'm off to bed soon, trying to get rid of my migraine.

And I am so angry and disappointed and exhausted and flat, numb, you name it - I hate the way I am, the way I feel and that I've realised I am actually really ashamed of what happened to me, as if I'm dirty and it was my fault.

Re: Taking charge of my well being!

Thanks @Former-Member but I will not be able to put that in the open. I am very confused and upset and angry at the moment.

@Former-Member Reading between the lines I knew you couldn't talk about it but maybe just how you were feeling. I feel for you right now and can only imagine your emotional storm happening now. Sending kind healing thoughts, stay safe. I'm here if you need💜💐
