Taking charge of my well being!

Taking charge of my well being!

Hello All,

I decided today not to go to hospital. I have a new psychiatrist, meeting a new social worker next week and I have another lovely social worker who meets with me, as well as a great GP who is always there for me.

I decided today that it is time to take charge of my well being myself. So as I am exploring new ideas I will keep a little diary here and perhaps it is useful for some other people that are struggling along the way.

I really want to look at the good sides of my life history. I have a lot of trauma to go through, but I don't want to forget the good times. So I made a random selection of photos of my husband. I want to make a scrap book and capture the love and the memories. In the book 8 Steps to Trauma Recovery there is a section about start with the end, or something like that. I made it through the trauma and I want to celebrate that I made it and capture the good times while I am feeling better. Over time I want to add my kids, my friends, my family, my uni years, my school years... whatever, one at a time, savouring the good times...

I know that just because I feel well today, tomorrow is another day. But it is ok, I will work on my ideas when I can. When I feel I can.

Big hugs to all x

Hi @Former-Member

After having a huge teary morning I went to work. Was okay until lunch time where I lost it again.

I am home now, just had dinner. My son did call us tonight so that has released a bit of my high anxiety.

Going tomorrow to art therapy, hoping that will be okay.

So glad all went well with your sons flight. How long is he going for? You have already managed so much!!! Packing and knowing he is leaving and saying bye at the airport.

I hope you feel better in art therapy tomorrow and make sure to follow your heart when it comes to what you want to draw x

HI @BlueBay

How have you been the first couple of days since your son left? Are you starting to feel more confident?

Good morning everyone,

I had a shocker of a day yesterday at work, that really crushed me. I vented. At work and several times after. Now I have parked or rather dismissed the subject. There was so much anger, and I voiced it and then all of the sudden I just felt exhausted. Perhaps I am starting to learn how to deal with difficult emotions? Not sure if the venting was done in an appropriate manner, but I am sure I can fine tune over the time.

One thing that is really helping me is remind myself why I work, what I like about work, what is good at work... and also how important it is for my mental health (apart from yesterday). I think leaving the work force now would make things a lot worse.

Morning @Former-Member,

You are doing well and still looking for the rose not the thorn in all of this. I am feeling the full force of my emotions lately and it is exhausting. Hoping that work today is a little less full on😊💜

Re: Taking charge of my well being!

Good morning @Former-Member

I hope your storm of emotions will pass soon. What are you trying to do to help make you feel better?

I think work might be even a bit more challenging today. Apparently I must not have looked & talked clearly with my social worker yesterday as I had to promise to call my GP and psych today. I do admit that I can feel a crash is coming up - I had my last phone conference in bed last night and have been up since 4am to prepare my presentation for today. I think my anger is giving me energy.

I hope you're feeling a little better today @Former-Member sending you a big hug!

Wow - that's impressive!!!

Now you have found the reasons you work - and maybe venting at work is not the best place - but I did it work once - and actually gathered my things and walked out - but they chased me - wanting me back

Learning to control our emotions is a work-in-progress - you have made a start, self-calmed and got on with the job with a new perspective - that's good

Everyone does their na-na at times - yesterday was your turn - it seems to have had a good effect on you

I am pleasantly impressed - goodonyer girl wtg
