Taking charge of my well being!

Taking charge of my well being!

Hello All,

I decided today not to go to hospital. I have a new psychiatrist, meeting a new social worker next week and I have another lovely social worker who meets with me, as well as a great GP who is always there for me.

I decided today that it is time to take charge of my well being myself. So as I am exploring new ideas I will keep a little diary here and perhaps it is useful for some other people that are struggling along the way.

I really want to look at the good sides of my life history. I have a lot of trauma to go through, but I don't want to forget the good times. So I made a random selection of photos of my husband. I want to make a scrap book and capture the love and the memories. In the book 8 Steps to Trauma Recovery there is a section about start with the end, or something like that. I made it through the trauma and I want to celebrate that I made it and capture the good times while I am feeling better. Over time I want to add my kids, my friends, my family, my uni years, my school years... whatever, one at a time, savouring the good times...

I know that just because I feel well today, tomorrow is another day. But it is ok, I will work on my ideas when I can. When I feel I can.

Big hugs to all x

I am thinking of your to Sadgirl

It would be easy just to pack ourselves - I finding packing for myself to go away a nightmare - like - what do you take!!!

Whatever you feel while you son is away - this I can tell you - it will not be what you think it is

Hi @Former-Member and @Decadian
Well said goodbye to my son. Of course I cried 😥 But I'm ok. My older son came with us and we went to have lunch. On our way home now. My son just text me to say he's checked in and now waiting about an hour before boarding.
Think I need a walk in the cold air later when I get home.

Take that walk in the cold air - I wish I could be with you

The cold air will ease your anxiety - which you are entitled to - I get it

Hi @BlueBay,

A walk is a great idea, even if you have to make yourself do it. Can you take your other son?

@Decadian How is your day going?

Re: Taking charge of my well being!

Good morning,

Another dreaded Monday morning. I slept (sort of) 11 hrs and am exhausted. Just looking at my diary this week is enough to make me go back to bed. I can do it, I know, but I hate the constant fight. I am just so tired. Every single day. I know I will feel better once I get to work, but even there I have to take meds to get me through the day, is this life really worth living?

Re: Taking charge of my well being!

Hi @Former-Member

the start of the week can be so overwhelming especially when there is so much to look forward to in the way of being so busy and as you said another dreaded Monday morning. I wonder how many other people on the forum feel the same way in relation to the start of a new week (specially now its winter and a bit chilly) and what they do to deal with those feelings?

You said you could do it but its such a tiring effort to complete each time and you find the struggle of the constant fight such a drag yet, you do it. Each time you manage to deal with all of these emotions to complete another day and get closer to the weekend again, you live the life so to speak. I wonder...again..how other people do this, how they deal with the "dreaded Monday morning" and what its worth is?

Just some thoughts from Iris

Yes it is @Former-Member
Having to get up and go to work has really been life-saving for me. Like you once I get to work I do feel better. I reckon it's because just getting to work can be a major achievement and that in and of itself helps me to feel better.

It's still early days for you and finding the right mix of meds etc can take time.

Hang in there. 💕

Hello @Iris and @Kurra

The day is nearly over. There was no improvement, I just numbed myself. There are things I am really passionate about at work and then there are the admin, endless meetings... I have a week full of this. Seeing my counsellor tomorrow.
