Taking charge of my well being!

Taking charge of my well being!

Hello All,

I decided today not to go to hospital. I have a new psychiatrist, meeting a new social worker next week and I have another lovely social worker who meets with me, as well as a great GP who is always there for me.

I decided today that it is time to take charge of my well being myself. So as I am exploring new ideas I will keep a little diary here and perhaps it is useful for some other people that are struggling along the way.

I really want to look at the good sides of my life history. I have a lot of trauma to go through, but I don't want to forget the good times. So I made a random selection of photos of my husband. I want to make a scrap book and capture the love and the memories. In the book 8 Steps to Trauma Recovery there is a section about start with the end, or something like that. I made it through the trauma and I want to celebrate that I made it and capture the good times while I am feeling better. Over time I want to add my kids, my friends, my family, my uni years, my school years... whatever, one at a time, savouring the good times...

I know that just because I feel well today, tomorrow is another day. But it is ok, I will work on my ideas when I can. When I feel I can.

Big hugs to all x

Re: Taking charge of my well being!

@Former-Member. Unfortunately the world has been like that for a long time. People only out to get what they can. So what do you do..
You fight some battles. You cannot fight them all. No one can. You choose a few that interest you the most -1local. 1-state - 1 australian & 1 or 2 overseas causes. Just do what you can.
I chose my forum name Utopia because it is a world I dream of. Even if it's jusg in mt town, my backyard or my head.
Those of us with MI are sensitive souls, some super sensitive. I can only do what I can do. I can only think about what I can handle & I can only fight a certain number of causes. I have no energy or ability for any more than that.
We cannot save every person. But we xan save one or two. They can save 2 & so on.
Are you able to give yourself credit for the good yiu do? For your caring and your morals?
I understand it's beyond hard sometimes. I just keep hoping for a better day tomorrow.

Hi @Decadian @utopia @BlueBay @Sahara

A turbulent day comes to a close. Thank you for all your messages.

I cannot explain how messed up and confused I am. And I'm sorry to drag everyone in my confused mental state.

Re: Taking charge of my well being!

Hi @utopia, @Sahara, @BlueBay, @Decadian and everyone else,

I have tried to do this on my own. I don't see it as a failure, but I have asked to be admitted to hospital. I just cannot make it on my own.

Hi @BlueBay

They said in the next couple of days, hopefully this week. How are you getting on with your admission to hospital?

I'm a bit worried and scared to leave home. But now that it's done, I won't change my decision.

Hi @Former-Member

That is amazing how quick you are going in. Wish it was this quick for me. Not sure if you have read my post about hospital stuff up. I was under the impression i was on a waiting list for about 3 weeks. called them friday to be told sorry you're not on the list. so after ranting a bit and almost crying on the phone, the unit manager said she would contact my psych. she rang me back yesterday to say i am back on list but she has upped me on the waiting time. i rang her today and she told me about 7-10 days time. I can't wait.

I think you have made the right decision. you will get the support and guidance and be able to chat to the staff. Take care, let us know how you go.

Hi @BlueBay

Fingers crossed that it will be quicker for you - yes I know about the drama last week, glad it is getting at least a bit pushed now. I hope I won't have a similar experience.

Re: Taking charge of my well being!

@Former-Member. It shows a lot of strength to ask for help when you need it. We can't do everything on our own. Sometimes we need the help of family / friends. Sometimes we need the help of our forum mates. And sometimes hospital will offed us the best help.
Now to be sure you are safe til you are admitted. Do you have plans in place to keep yourself busy? I'm free for a chat anytime. As are your other friends on this site.
I can't wait for you to feel so much better afted your hospital stay. Will be thinking of you.
