Can’t take this hurt anymore

Can’t take this hurt anymore

I’ve been hurt a LOT throughout my life, but I’ve always been able to cope. I’ve sucked it up, I’ve ignored it, I’ve disassociated, I’ve abused drugs, abused alcohol, faked it, put on the brave face. Not always the greatest strategies, but they’ve kept me alive all these years. I even managed to get my shit together and become a decent human being, and even be what I thought to be a pretty good wife and mother.

But now, I’m hurting so much and in so much pain and I can’t cope anymore. I can’t suck it up, I can’t fake it and I don’t know what to do anymore.

We have a new grand daughter, not even a month old and we’re not allowed to be a part of her life. The baby’s mother and the other grandmother are feeding both us and our son a heap of lies and we are not allowed to visit and we’ve been told they won’t be coming here. Every time we try to arrange a visit it becomes a battle, there’s always an excuse why it won’t work out. And in the middle of all this is our son getting pulled from pillar to post.

Yesterday someone asked me how our grand daughter was and I responded that we didn’t have one. I can’t get attached to this little girl that we’re not allowed to have a relationship with.

I can’t handle all this, and now my husband is pissed off with me because I’ve decided to step back and play no part in all the drama that the other family feed off.

I’m shattered, my stomach is in knots, I feel sick to my stomach and once again the anxiety is off the charts. God, this is such an awful feeling and I want it to stop.

Re: Can’t take this hurt anymore

That support is so wonderful to have @Razzle and even better that you trust him enough to open up as you have. It is extremely difficult talking about these things with anyone so to see you have that trusting relationship and can talk with him is gold. These things do take time and you need to have a pretty good rapport with someone to open up so much - so pleased you have this psych in your corner. I know your appointment is a couple of days away so keep posting here in the meantime if you need to. I will need to go to bed soon but I will check in with you again tomorrow after work again. Stay strong hon - you have it within you and despite how you are feeling you are getting through the days - and that takes courage - so much to admire about that

Re: Can’t take this hurt anymore

@oceangirl they are very young so it is hard for him to stand up to the other grandmother. They live 4hrs away so it’s not that easy to catch up in person, and living under their roof makes it hard to catch up in the place they’re living.

No one knows that my husband and I see a councillor so I can’t involve him. I’m not sure my sons partner would partake anyway.

My husband has just told me that he has been ringing my son daily for the last few days, he knows the calls aren’t private, that the others are listening in, so he keeps the conversation pretty casual. That’s more than I can do at the moment, I can’t fake a conversation when I know they’re listening in.

@RazzleYou could meet up at a local cafe, library, park, and not necessay at their house. But I do think your son should be able to have visitors. This type of behaviour gets worse if you don't resolve it. The pattern of behaviour becomes ingrain. My parents had similar issues with my brother and he was quite young too. And I've had other people tell similar experiences with their sons- so you're not alone.

Hi @Razzle

Just checking in to see how you are- was your appointment today or is it later in the week?

Re: Can’t take this hurt anymore

Hi @oceangirl I have a couples session on Thursday, and then a 1 on 1 next week on Wednesday.

Stuck on the couch today, I’m so tired but I can’t sleep, I feel like I’m in a fog.

Re: Can’t take this hurt anymore

Thanks for checking in @Razzle

Hope your appointments go well.. I am sorry you're experiencing fog like symptoms- some people have that with hormones and changes to their hormones. Its important that you try to reduce stress levels, I know its difficult atm but you need to look after you too. I will be back in 30 minutes maybe closer to 1 hour.

Hey @Razzle Home from work and checking in with you Hon. Hope you got some sleep last night. Noticed you still feel like you are in a fog and that is not surprising with everything you have been dealing with. Is your appointment Friday with your husband or on your own?

Re: Can’t take this hurt anymore

Hi @Zoe7 I got my days mixed up, my appointment is on Thursday and it’s couples councelling so it’s with my husband. I have a 1 on 1 next week on Wednesday. My councillor works from his home town (540km round trip) most days except Thursdays when he is at our closest big town (200km round trip). Not too far to travel on Thursday but I have a bit of a hike next Wednesday. I wish he lived closer.

Re: Can’t take this hurt anymore

That is a long trip both days for you @Razzle but it seems he is a great support and a help for you so I can see why you continue to see him. It would be so much better if he was closer- especially for the appointment next week. Will you be able to talk to him and hubby about some of this stuff with your son this week Hon? I know you have said that your hubby doesn't seem to want to listen to your views on this but maybe this session is a time you can voice some of them in a safe environment.
