Something’s not right

why can't I cope longer?

why can't I cope longer?

Something's not right alright... Not sure why I'm falling to pieces atm and short of listening ears. Hope someone here can put up with me.

I'm walking in circles at home... well, not literally, just can't seem to stay focused or finish anything... if I can even remember what it is I got out of the chair to do half the time...

And snappy with people, everywhere, rude even (which is so out of character for me), the slightest hint of being 'had' or criticised or misunderstood... oh boy, I just can't keep it in atm. The internal pressure cooker wants to explode & I don't know how to stop it.

I'm at the crossroads in life, moving and deciding if to bother starting again, or just quit on life / die.

And what's scary about that lately, is the thought of it doesn't make me scared anymore - like its just what I'm supposed to do. Do you think God would factor in a premature departure (suicide / depression?) like he accepts other illnesses that separate spirit & body?

Its just those kinds of dark thoughts, but not like crisis level or that, just trying to find my way, or other alternatives, something to look fwd to.... to keep me here. I can't see a future worth living & don't feel the internal resources keep fighting.

Don't tell me to run off & get antidepressants... I'm on them. Or psychotherapy - that's in progress... I think maybe I just want to be heard. Not changedchanged (disapproved of)... just cared about... Is that too much to ask from life? Oh I know God loves me and all that, but I still live on earth...

Do you know what I'm trying to say?Does anyone ever feel this way? I just feel so totally spent - the end of the line... ... ...

My two church supports are away at the moment, not that I lean on them heavy, I'm just conscious there gone...

Ha! Horrible feeling like the only close people in ya life need to take a holiday away from you, well, maybe some of the others I notice they have to deal with more, none the less - feeling abandoned 😞

@Former-Member ... now lets get one thing straight ... YOU ARE NOT UNLIKEABLE. And although you may be physically alone right now, emotionally you are not alone. You have a lot of people here on the forums who really appreciate you, your honesty and your support of others. In fact I noticed that the April community wrap mentioned you ... (copied from that thread below)

Lived Experience side of the forum this month we are celebrating @EOR for offering honest and supportive advice to forum members during difficult periods, encouraging them to stay connected and kind to themselves.

Did you happen to see that? I had a smile when I read that, thinking how highly you deserved that acknowledgement of how much you do around here. So please never doubt your worth to others.

You have had to deal with so much 'wrong' in your life, but you are still the lovely person you are. Testament to how strong you really are I guess, an inner strength which is very important. Call it your religious faith if you like, if that helps. I know every day can be a battle just to get through sometimes, or often. But somehow you keep managing to pick yourself up and keep going. I think you're wonderful, and am blessed to know you.

I am sorry you dont have more room for your sewing or crafts. That does make things hard. I found the same with my art (water colour, oils, acrylics, etc). It was more trouble than it was worth to keep getting it all laid out only to have to pack it all up again. My diamond painting I can leave out, so its a much better option.

Re: why can't I cope longer?

@Former-Member, no I dont think its right at all. I find it very uncaring, selfish and thoughtless of your son.

Just thinking about his decision to turn his phone off on weekends. Why not let him do that. Can you phone another day, a weeknight? Let him have his way on that one and see how he reacts to that. They say a change is as good as a holiday. Why not take a holiday and phone him on .. say a Wednesday in future? How do you feel about that?

I was still writing my previous post, so didnt see your latest one until after I posted. Sorry about that.

I think you are justified in feeling crushed by his behaviour. It isnt right, but I suspect you are not going to be able to change it. So why not try to accommodate his wishes by not contacting him on a weekend? Another night may be just as good for you, and more acceptable to him.

Try not to let it get to you though. Accept that he has MH issues and he too is likely suffering. You need to try to work together to come to a mutually acceptable solution.

Good luck.

Re: why can't I cope longer?

@Former-Member It seems very much that it is about your son't issues and not yours. If he feels he upsets everyone and should just give up then he is obviously not in a good place himself. It is hard as his mum to not take that personally or fear for his safety but he is the only one that can change all that. Unfortunately it is often those we care about most that are hurt in the process.

I can give you a persona example - my mother used to call every Sunday night and that was my time to wind down and get ready for the upcoming week. I asked her many times not to call then but she did not listen. I have been very abrupt with her at times, and at times I think quite hurtful but she also did not v listen nor respect what I had asked. I am telling you that because whilst you care about your son you also need to respect his request. I know you want/need that contact with him but maybe for a while it needs to be him that reaches out to you. That will be incredibly hard to deal with but if you push that connection on him the resentment will likely grow and that is when relationships become fractured beyond repair.

It sounds like he needs time to work out his own issues and as hard as it is you may need to wait for him to do that or for him to reach out to you. I understand that is a very lonely place for you to be but the constant dismissing of you and treating you badly is not good either. Give him a little time and space to contact you and then take it from there.

Re: why can't I cope longer?

Thanks @ Former-Member, that's lovely. I hear you @ Zoe7, do you have children. Everyone supports the youth. And yes, i can't force him, to love his mother. He's probably already factored in his mother's Day obligation to call me and the thought is enough. A lot of ppl don't like me / others, ya don't have to remind.

@Former-Member thanks 💖

Incidentally, I dont have children of my own either. Only step-children who are well and truly grown up now.

Re: why can't I cope longer?

I don't have any children either @Former-Member @Former-Member @Zoe7 Not any Step-Children, either.

Not my fault - I always wanted (& chose) to have children.

Never happened, no opportunity - ex-wife said she had tricked me, & had never intended to have children (even though promising to).

Several women friends have said that I would have made an excellent parent (Dad).

Anyway, I've lived on my own for 10 years now.

Hi there @Former-Member

I am concerned about your post light of the forum guideline about respect and not posting comments that could be seen as attacking.another member. It can be easy to misinterpret other members' positions and views in an on line forum so maybe kinder posts are in order during these strange days of isolation.

cheers
