A question for the ladies

A question for the ladies

Hi lovelies

Im wondering how much being late in your cycle affects your mental health and energy levels?

I am late by 4 months and i dont know if thats part of the reason i feel so s**t.

I am undergoing tests soon enough but im wondering how much this vould be affecting me atm.

Re: A question for the ladies

Only read page 5 @outlander.

Definitely go to the women's clinic would be my choice. Most gp's (even female) brush aside period or ovulation or endometriosis pain. Take an over the counter pain pill, is there attitude. That's too blase.

Some women don't have uncomfortable periods, some women are in agony. And pain to me, is an indication that something is wrong.

Definitely get things checked out properly.

Re: A question for the ladies

Hi @outlander

just wanted to say that I was diagnosed with endo in my late 20’s when trying for 5 yrs to hsve a bsby. I then had a laparoscopy where the specialist said I had Endo.

I think it would be good if you could get into the Women’s clinic.

Good luck @outlander love to hear how you go. Hugs ❤️❤️

Re: A question for the ladies

Yes your right @utopia it has been brushed off almoat since the start. They run a blood test and an ultrasound 2 yra ago and then ive been a broken record and brushed off ever since the tests didn't show anything.
Im not sure not being able to walk because of pain is normal and it wasnt like that for me before so it is coming across as a warnig sign as well as the irregularity.

Thank you @BlueBay im not sure how i would go with a laproscopy it would also mean talking to my mother for help. Not sure that would go down to well.

I wasnt brave enough to ring the clinic esp since i feel abit awkward and embatrassed having to go to yet another gp. I had the number sitting on my phone but couldn't press ring 🙁 ill try again tomorrow....

Re: A question for the ladies

Hi @outlander

I'm sorry I haven't got back earlier - just battling my demons

Anyway - I did a bit of web searching and found a site - Endometriosis Australia not that it says much - nothing does - but it does have some info

Depressing info - the facts are such that many women have it and there a lot of women who don't report it -

It is a huge financial drain on the medical system and also in work productivity - what fun those stats are -

Apart from all of this they do list some facts I didn't know about - it's all there to read but yes - it does affect young women with no family history and maybe can be treated but I don't know how - it is a very painful condition and still little is known.

One thing I think you fear already is that you have MI issues and bad periods can be blamed on that - I know - I have been through that one - and you have other health problems that are not psychosomatic and who wants to go through all of this again - and again?

Someone suggested a women's health clinic and I had not thought of that but it is probably the best place to go - the chances are good that it will be taken more seriously there

I wish you the best - and I know about your mother - it reflects more on her than you

All the best

Re: A question for the ladies

Hi again @outlander

I did a better search under Endometriosis on the same page - different areas have more information - and some yukky pics you can ignore -

There is a lot to read there to know more if you feel the need to - oh boy - I was delighted myself - I have an insatiable curiosity - all that stuff I didn't know - I fill my brain with the most interesting info

One thing though - which is a good thing to know - the more you know when you take a health issue to the medical profession the better your position - at least YOU know the truth even if the doctor doesn't - we girls - after all - are the ones with the pain

All the best with that

Re: A question for the ladies

hey @Owlunar
i was having a look at a few sites yesterday and it does seem abit common. I think it goes unnoticed for a few reasons- one is becasue some people dont have any symptoms but gets discovered sort of like accidentally, the other is embarrassment and that individuals 'normality' which is where im currently sitting. the embarrassment usually overruns everything even if im talking to another female about this stuff. for some people their symptoms are normal to them so dont seek help for that reason, like you mine was rather normal previously but its totally different that is sending big alarm bells. i get that stress can play a role but this doesnt feel like stress if that makes sense, when i first started missing periods, i would think oh stress is causing havoc but that was only missing a few weeks unlike now where its months at a time and ive got other symptoms like the pain and heaviness, irregularity, overly-fatigured around that time.
and yep definenetly i worry that my MI would be blamed constantly as it is right now. MI and stress are the things they are putting it down to becasue my blood tests come back normal for hormone levels.
another thing im worried about is even though i might have the knowledge of this stuff i worry that they will think im making it up becasue i do know about it, its happened before when i went to the drs about something and they had told me that maybe it was in my head becasue i had read about it.

Re: A question for the ladies

thanks @CheerBear for being ok to talk here.
with my current nurse im kinda scared to talk to her about seeing someone else. she is supportive of me, alot more than what i deserve so im scared to say that i really do want to get some help. but in a way too she has been brushing it off a little but doesnt have much power in referrals and things to other people, my gp has to do that and she wont.

im abit scared of what tests they may do as well esp if the people doing the tests are male- no offence to them of course but it makes me more uncomfortable. Can i ask you (and anyone reading) what tests they asked you to do besides blood tests?

im having thoughts if maybe nows the right time too with xmas coming, school holidays, and the oral surgury as well, im mixed between maybe if i seek help now then maybe things will work out quicker but then the other part says try to ride it out and get through the next few months then i can ocus on that...
