Living with Ourselves

hello @eudemonism @eth @outlander @Bunniekins @Mazarita @Silenus @NameUnknown @Grasshopper3 @patientpatient @soul @Former-Member @Determined @Shaz51 @Former-Member @Friendconnect @Teej @utopia @Queenie @Appleblossom @Zam @perseverer @Janna @Owlunar @Former-Member @Former-Member

First of all I wanted to let you know that I have conversed with all of you at some stage on both sides of the forum..

It was my intention to close two of my threads and change my name in the kindest way for all of you...

I commenced this process on the 12th March and today is the first day that I have access to actually post or respond to anyone....I was in the last couple of days able to register a new name and like some posts...

I am so sorry that my profile ended so abruptly that was definitely not my intention....

In fact if I had done it my way.. instead of thinking would be better to be guided through the process....I would have just written on one of my threads my reason for closing my account tagging you all in....then requested account to be closed and username put to bed so to speak

I have chosen to take this path in order to protect my family's sense of safety .. privacy...health..

Please let me reassure you that this has nothing to do with any members on here...

I have tagged each and everyone of you because you have given me support and invited me into a little of your worlds...priceless experiences...I have felt heard and valued on here....Thank you all so much..

Moving forward ...this is who I am now and hope to be able to converse on the forum living in the now not the past...therefore no mention of my previous username necessary...

If you do not know who I am...that is fine also...perhaps all of the above is not relevant for you..

take care

hello @Maggie

I hope that you are feeling less fragile today....Am I might in recalling that you have physical pain also?

I felt fragile and emotional yesterday.....

then I felt very irritated with my husband at times...when I am in a lot of pain my tolerance level these days becomes very low...doing anything is a task and I feel putting up with myself too much....

every day is different...

our visitors arrived and short stay lasted two hours....was lovely actually....grumbles and laughs....

good news for her with cancer....not growing or changing ...same level for several months now...resulting in no change in medication...his back operation..fusion of discs.. was a great success and he has recovered fully from that...he still has his polymyalgia...manages well...

I wish that there was a sunny sheltered spot for me to sit outside....sadly high on a hill...a farm on one side....the wind blows around freely...

do you have a special spot in the garden where you can sit?

any thing planned for today? or a day for trying to keep warm and self nurturing?

how is your hand..wrist progressing outlander? are you able to use it carefully yet? apologies ...you have probably already given an update somewhere....

@Former-Member

I think I read the other day that you are starting to declutter at your dad's house? was that the case?

I also read about upcoming test....it is not a pleasant feeling leading up to the test...once happening the anxiety will ease somewhat...

thinking of you...have you someone driving you there and picking you up?

Morning @Sophia1

My hand was healing well but had abit of a setback. Pop was being abit difficult trying to lift things and couldnt so helped out. It is healing slowly though. I can bear some weight on it. I still cant grab anything yet though. Still get alot of pulling and pinching with the nerve pain but not ad bad as a few weeks ago.

How are you going? Whats your plans for today?

Re: Living with Ourselves

ouch @outlander

does your pop have a walker...? has anyone in the health profession showed him how to get up himself by moving forward on the cushion of his seat...placing both of his hands either side of his hips..then rocking slightly ...pushing down with hands then pushing self up slowly...to hold on to his walker which you are holding strongly....

has he seen a nurse? physiotherapist? occupational therapist at home?

this is all part of manual handling to avoid injuries of those attending people who need assistance...

if not in place you can speak to his doctor..

I have an appointment this afternoon..

not doing too much...did too much yesterday morning...even though was next to nothing in the kitchen..

have a nice weekend...

Re: Living with Ourselves

Oh @Sophia1 im sorry i didnt explain that well at all. I get so caught up or use to the situation i forget to actually explain things properly. He still has good mobility atm but not alot of strength and he was trying to lift a heavy object out of the trailor instead of listening to me and waiting till the arvo when mum and her bf was home to help. He tried to lift it so rushed in to help im just glad i was home.

Good luck at your appt today, hope its not to rough on you. 💕 resting sounds like a good idea. How have you been keeping yourself occupied?

Re: Living with Ourselves

@outlander

How have I been keeping myself occupied. Doing the mundane mostly...always needing help with most tasks....this frustrates me ll the more..

I have been an independent person for most of my life...

I am struggling intensely continuing to ask for help...

I understand why those confined to chairs....can come across as so irritable at times...they are..I am frustrated with self..

I read..watch comedies...organise washing..

even showering washing hair takes so long....

I am going to attempt to do some drawing/sketching...

look for some knitting that I lost picked up years go..

colouring in is harder s cannot do that neatly laying down..

wht about yourself.

Re: Living with Ourselves

It sounds very frustrating @Sophia1 i still occassionally ask mum to put my hair into a pony tail or make it neater.
Its so hard loosing that independence.

I know it would be a big struggle for you to ask for help try to remember it wont last forever though. You'll slowly become more independent with time.
Im.not sure what sort of positions tou find comfortable but have you thought of buying an easel and setting yourself up abit of an art station?

Hmm mostly reading arts and exercise ( but havent had the energy to do that much latley) keep me occupied as well as movies and of course the housework. I thought about studying again but im not sure about that yet.
