Living with Ourselves

Living with Ourselves

hello @eudemonism @eth @outlander @Bunniekins @Mazarita @Silenus @NameUnknown @Grasshopper3 @patientpatient @soul @Former-Member @Determined @Shaz51 @Former-Member @Friendconnect @Teej @utopia @Queenie @Appleblossom @Zam @perseverer @Janna @Owlunar @Former-Member @Former-Member

First of all I wanted to let you know that I have conversed with all of you at some stage on both sides of the forum..

It was my intention to close two of my threads and change my name in the kindest way for all of you...

I commenced this process on the 12th March and today is the first day that I have access to actually post or respond to anyone....I was in the last couple of days able to register a new name and like some posts...

I am so sorry that my profile ended so abruptly that was definitely not my intention....

In fact if I had done it my way.. instead of thinking would be better to be guided through the process....I would have just written on one of my threads my reason for closing my account tagging you all in....then requested account to be closed and username put to bed so to speak

I have chosen to take this path in order to protect my family's sense of safety .. privacy...health..

Please let me reassure you that this has nothing to do with any members on here...

I have tagged each and everyone of you because you have given me support and invited me into a little of your worlds...priceless experiences...I have felt heard and valued on here....Thank you all so much..

Moving forward ...this is who I am now and hope to be able to converse on the forum living in the now not the past...therefore no mention of my previous username necessary...

If you do not know who I am...that is fine also...perhaps all of the above is not relevant for you..

take care

Re: Living with Ourselves

Just found your written reply re garden art @Jacques

an indication of my mind at moment spinning hence I missed the written reply

Hmm how do I describe my garden art.

I have a dragon fly with blue wings except the strong gully winds blew the wings off.

So my resourceful self said no matter now looks like an insect body without wings and the wings are planted separately with plants. 3 for the price of 1!

Also a bronze coloured flower on a long stem.

Small turtles hens frogs sticking in pots.

Then vegetables with hanging legs that yes the wind has blown bits off. No matter they all get placed in different pots or just hang somewhere.

Very quirky

Now I have added old english crockery cups that I was saving taking up space in a drawer. They hang here there and everywhere.

So when I declutter inside I clutter outside in my garden house and around my garden laugh. Sharing and spreading it about.

I want another windchime my last one broke plus a birdhouse for my tree.

Can't find any simple ones at garden centres or hardware stores.

A great pastime.

Sophia

Re: Living with Ourselves

oh wow @Sophia1 , your garden art sounds really amazing, i would love a bird house too but i have too many feral cats, they are destroying all my wildlife, i have lost a family of blue tongue lizards and a lot of fairy wrens. maybe one day when i can get the cats under control i might make a safe space for the birds.

have you ever thought about a bee hotel? they are becoming really popular and lots of conservation places are urging people to put them in for native and bumble bee's for them to have a safe space. i will post a picture of one after this post.

sounds like your garden is your happy place. so is mine. i have so many bees and i have some garden ornaments. even a Buddah.

Re: Living with Ourselves

Oh thank you @Jacques

I saw one of those bee hotels (did not know what it was) at a hardware store/garden centre and did not understand how it worked.

I asked a staff member and yes you guessed, neither did they. So did not buy one.

I do have many bees in my area but not the ones that I need to attract.

I shall add that to my list of "to achieve". Do they need to be hung high to avoid low level critters?

I will have to read up on what to do with them and how they work. Have you got any yourself?

We have a large family of possums very high up in a safe place in our old gum tree.

There would be many other creatures, wildlife scurrying about before and after the sun appears.

Not good re feral cats. Isn't there a plant that deters them? Or did I imagine that.

Had a quick search ... scare off feral cats in gardens, you can use natural deterrents like citrus peels, strong-smelling herbs ....such as lavender, rosemary, and rue, as well as plants like Coleus canina and lemon thyme.

I have lavenders, rosemary in white and purple as well as oregano, chives, lemon thyme and lemon verbena.

Some animals defy the rule of course..The citrus peel might be worth a try if you do not want to buy herbs.

Yes in response to your safe place garden mine I call my sanctuary.

I have not yet acquired a Buddha. I used to have one in the house but I have a feeling husband tossed it when we moved into our new home here as he thought was bad luck!!!

More bad luck to toss it!!!

So something else that I had forgotten.

You always give me such helpful advise that actually suits my needs.

Thank you

Jacques you are a good friend.

I hope that you are feeling better.

I am not in a very good place at moment.

Have you thought about making a bird house? Does not have to look like the usual design. Can be Jacque's design. A new project?? As if you do not have enough to do.

I am hoping husband will make me one as he said he would when I mentioned that I was buying one. Hmm.. He is rather busy though.

I am very busy in my head!

I do write a fair bit and research also.

Not as keen on internet research as so must AI oriented.

Tis life

Take care

Re: Living with Ourselves

@JacquesHey. Good to see you.

I have a bee hotel in my garden that I won by doing the best growling grass imitation.

@Sophia1 I agree with you, I am not fond of the AI creeping into everything online.

For some reason this thread shows up in my notifications.

I hope you are both ... as well ... as possible.
