Living with Ourselves

hello @eudemonism @eth @outlander @Bunniekins @Mazarita @Silenus @NameUnknown @Grasshopper3 @patientpatient @soul @Former-Member @Determined @Shaz51 @Former-Member @Friendconnect @Teej @utopia @Queenie @Appleblossom @Zam @perseverer @Janna @Owlunar @Former-Member @Former-Member

First of all I wanted to let you know that I have conversed with all of you at some stage on both sides of the forum..

It was my intention to close two of my threads and change my name in the kindest way for all of you...

I commenced this process on the 12th March and today is the first day that I have access to actually post or respond to anyone....I was in the last couple of days able to register a new name and like some posts...

I am so sorry that my profile ended so abruptly that was definitely not my intention....

In fact if I had done it my way.. instead of thinking would be better to be guided through the process....I would have just written on one of my threads my reason for closing my account tagging you all in....then requested account to be closed and username put to bed so to speak

I have chosen to take this path in order to protect my family's sense of safety .. privacy...health..

Please let me reassure you that this has nothing to do with any members on here...

I have tagged each and everyone of you because you have given me support and invited me into a little of your worlds...priceless experiences...I have felt heard and valued on here....Thank you all so much..

Moving forward ...this is who I am now and hope to be able to converse on the forum living in the now not the past...therefore no mention of my previous username necessary...

If you do not know who I am...that is fine also...perhaps all of the above is not relevant for you..

take care

Hello @eudemonism

Thank you for asking.....

I am trying to do too much too soon physically.....become frustrated when body lets me know..not on painkillers...so more laying down...I am doing at least two hours a week in the pool...exercises

I just have to accept that is a slow recovery..

Hard as there is much to be done..I just can't do it..

will go back to library and get more books..

hope that you find something that you enjoy each day...we all need that

take care

Hello @Adge

Thank you for acknowledging my thoughts....

I am on a long slow journey of physical and mental recovery....not the first time in my life...

this has been the most major operation that I have had though...

You know only too well about the setbacks and effects on mental health..

I am trying to do too much too soon....

I have to listen to my own humble advice and be gentle with myself...

not as easy as it sounds is it...

Re: Living with Ourselves

sorry @Zoe7

I wrote an epic reply and then untagged you as I know that you have your own pain at the moment

headache and recovering from illness with antibiotics...

I also know that you will tell me that you would not reply to me if you were not up to it..thank you

I just struggle with tagging people when I am in a deep place of pain...

I appreciate very much your coming back ....butterfly ...symbolic for me with my late dad...I have told you of this before...

My emotions are still all over the place....I understand the reasons....not just surgery...medication weaned off...also ...so much has happened ....since my first coming here to these forums...

I still don't feel as though I belong....or fit in...this is old patterned thinking...

I have experienced so many losses....so much uncertainty....grief....before I landed here and since...

this is mental unwellness....this is the mind tormenting...the inner battle of old and replaced thinking..

...I have run out of words....this is a good thing...I just need to let myself feel,..I am not a wallower...just feel...let myself feel...

Re: Living with Ourselves

You take care too @Sophia1 I'm thinking of you.

Recovery from major surgery is tough.

I've had 3, & I've never been quite right since. They saved my life yes, but my health & well-being were ruined.

Yes you are right, it does so impact on our mental health.

Re: Living with Ourselves

No need to untag me with those epic posts @Sophia1 - I will let you know if I am not feeling ok to respond in the moment

I do know however the feelings we feel when we are in pain - we don't want to bother anyone - I think this is the case with many of us here Hon - it is definitely something I struggle with too - it is as if by seeking support and mentioning our pain that we are burdening others. It doesn't matter how much we are told by others that it is no burdern - it is what we feel and that is something really hard to get over.

I do remember you telling me about that butterfly - as if it was your Dad flying away (if I remember that correctly).

Our own insecurities certainly make us feel like we don't belong - that is actually what make so many of us actually belong here on the forum @Sophia1 - there are so many of us that feel in so many facets of our life that we don't belong and that feeling is often transferred here - but the fact that so many of us feel this way is actually what unites us. So welcome to the 'I don't belong' group - it is hard to feel this way but many of us do understand the feeling @Sophia1 so you are in good company!

I am really enjoying our conversations here @Sophia1 - it is making me think - and that is a good thing when most days are spent trying not to think. This thinking is not triggering or emotion driven - it is thinking more laterally about the kind of things both you and I are going through in a more philosophical way - and that is really helping me - I hope it is helping you in even a small way
