Something’s not right

I know this post is going to be 'moderated', but I really don't care.

I know this post is going to be 'moderated', but I really don't care.

Does anyone else ever get to the point with sh that they just want to cause as much destruction as possible? Total and utter urge to self destruct?
I don't care about the ramifications, I don't care about the downstream impacts.
I just want to destroy myself.
What do you do?

@Former-Member I think everything that you have been asking us. I think you have a right to know why it has taken so long etc.

That's true - what the *hell* I've been doing for the last 12 months.
What he thinks he was doing for these 12 months???
But I certainly don't value his clinical opinion. And I don't care what he thinks about my future. He obviously doesn't think I can ever reach my goals, but why should I listen to him? His opinion doesn't matter to me.

Oh, and to top all of this off, my father has yet again forgotten who I am. Yay!

@Former-Member I have read over your most recent posts and it sounds like there is a case of the "ill-fated psychiatrist who tries to help but ends up making it worse for their patient"
Sadly this is not listed in the DSM lol. But I hear what you are saying.
My experience with psychologists has been rather similar (not so much psychiatrists as I only saw one and still do).
There comes a time where we understand the way the mental health system works and we realise what we need to do in order to get better. If this means moving on from one therapist or specialist to another then that's good. In the end it is us and us alone that lives with it on daily basis, so it only makes logical sense to make these choices for ourselves. In some cases this can be negative, but I don't think it is in your case. You're not an idiot and you are capable of making that choice. Sometimes psychiatrists can overdo it (As can psychologists) in their attempts to 'help' patients. Psychiatrists (seeing as they are medical professionals) may over medicalise situations - my own psychiatrist pointed that out to me recently. Some psychologists (Seeing as they are more like therapists as opposed to doctors) can overdo it on some aspects of therapy. Only by seeing my current psychologist have I realised that I basically have childhood trauma that for the most part has been internalised and also still holds me back. That was an overwhelmingly positive thing to work on why my psych. Literally everyone else went over and over the same rubbish with me. Some even told me that I had "get a grip or anxiety would ruin my life". I think that was her trying be tough love which I just laughed at because that's what I had been doing all along.
See the trend? sometimes we DO know what is better for us, even if we struggle on a daily basis with mental illness.
The mind is a crazy old thing @Former-Member and you my friend are on a good course. 3 months is a good time period to work it out. I've done that before and it worked wonders lol.
Take care please 🙂

Re: I know this post is going to be 'moderated', but I really don't care.

Is this email excessive...... (considering how pissed off I am?)

No, I’m done.

I don’t see why I should go in just for you to tell me what kind of a shit person you think I am.
I know I’m scum, I know this. I live with this every moment of every day.
I can’t believe I was ever stupid enough to trust you or tell you anything about my life.
I came to you for a specific purpose with specific goals - which I now know you think I’ll never be able to achieve. Surely it’s unethical for you to continue to ‘treat’ me when you know I’ll never be able to fulfil those goals. What the fuck was the point of this last year? What the fuck were you doing? Do you not give a shit about the people that come to you for help?
Given I have been in therapy with you for a year now I think the following requests are more than reasonable:
1. You tell me what bullshit diagnoses you’ve given me
2. You outline what in the hell you were doing for the last year and how that constitutes ‘therapy’
3. You provide me by 10am Monday morning with a copy of my records. I have requested this twice previously and I do so again.
As written in the code of ethics for ANZAP which i believe you are a member of:
"Release of Information to Clients
9.1 Unless there are reasons imposed by legislation or where it can cause damage to do so, members will not refuse any reasonable request from clients, or former clients, to access their client file records for which the Member has professional responsibility.
(Australian ANZAP Code of Ethics Revision 3: (25 September 2014)
9 Members have particular and defined responsibilities under the Australian Privacy Act, especially Australian Privacy Principle 12 in relation to this).
Shall you not fulfil the above, once I secure employment I will seek legal representation regarding these requests.

How would you feel about holding onto the draft email for awhile @Former-Member and waiting until your emotions have settled down before making the decision? We can often make better decisions when we're feeling calm, because strong emotions make it difficult to make good decisions.

To be honest, I'm just about to send it.

Re: I know this post is going to be 'moderated', but I really don't care.

I'm just so hurt and betrayed.
Why in the living F did I think going to a mental health professional would be a good idea or even helpful?

After all they are just being paid to tell you what broken scum you are. They don't help. They just judge.

And trusting them?!? That was a brilliant idea. Why would I ever do that again? Why would I ever trust another human again. No one is trustworthy. No one gives a shit. They're all in it for themselves so they can judge and scorn you.

Never again.

Never again.

I'm done.

Hi @Former-Member .....

In my understanding as soon as you use swearing (considered abusive language) in your letter the reader can stop reading it.

I have read through what you have written with the swearing removed, and it is just as powerful a statement without the swearing.

Can I suggest that you keep this copy for yourself, because that’s the way you wrote it, and that’s the way you want to send it, then copy and paste it into the email with the swearing removed, to make sure he does read it.

I also agree with @TheVorticon that it is worth calming down before pressing the Send button, because you can’t I send it if you see things a bit differently once you have sent it.

Have you considered how you might feel if you were to go into your next appointment and the therapist did give you his diagnosis together with answering questions etc ?

Is it worth seeing him for this next appointment with this letter in an envelope ready to give him at the end of the appointment as you walk out if you are not happy with how it goes ? You could even tell him that you want him to do all the talking this time.

What do you think ?

Re: I know this post is going to be 'moderated', but I really don't care.

@Faith-and-Hope,
The only reason he won't give me a diagnosis is because he thinks I'm scum.
He thinks I'm vile, worthless, useless scum.
I already sent an email a few minutes ago, that was much shorter and with less swearing (I only swore twice). Bascially telling him that I know he thinks I'm scum and I'm never trusting a mental health professional again and that if he doen't give me a copy of my records I'll get legal representation.

He's taken me for a ride (for a whole year!), because he doesn't think I worth anything more than this. He doesn't think there is a mental illness to treat, he just thinks that I am vile scum that will forever be unable to have relationships or a family.

I don't see how there is any way forward from this.

I'm seeing him on Tuesday to get my records from him. He's welcome to say what he likes.
