Something’s not right

I know this post is going to be 'moderated', but I really don't care.

I know this post is going to be 'moderated', but I really don't care.

Does anyone else ever get to the point with sh that they just want to cause as much destruction as possible? Total and utter urge to self destruct?
I don't care about the ramifications, I don't care about the downstream impacts.
I just want to destroy myself.
What do you do?

So today was the final straw.
I've decided that I'm going to take a little break from mental health treatment and re assess in 3 months time.
As I see it right now, it's not really been to my benefit and I'd like to assess my other options before I decide if I want to pursue further treatment and whether to continue my current treatment regime.

Hi @Former-Member i dont have anything to add to what others have said but letting you know you have my support in all the things your going through ❤ taking a break and reassessing sounds like a good option for yourself

Hi @Former-Member .....

I am glad you have settled on how you feel about what has been happening and have made a decision. I hope you are feeling the same way this morning, confirming for yourself that this is the right decision for you for now.

I am guessing it will help to underscore for your therapist how helpless this situation has made you feel, so you are taking back control of the decision-making.

Three months sounds like a reasonable time to map out how you manage and what you might like to do with your mental health treatment moving forward.

The chatline here at Sane might be of some help to you during that time if you feel you need to talk about it some more, or if you become emotional about it and need a sounding board.

I called a helpline service recently and it helped me to confirm a decision I needed to make .... just hearing someone else say, “I hear what you are saying and it makes sense to me”, can be enough to bring clarity to something that has seemed uncomfortable and messy. It’s about validation.

Hi @Faith-and-Hope

I am glad that you were able to contact a helpful Help Line and your felt confirmed and validated

We all need someone to care and to hear and to understand and to validate us - you must feel very much alone with the self-righteous Mr Faith holding court so to speak and you get left out when you have been holding things together for so long

Always thinking of you Faith and sending more prayers - you are certainly standing in the need of them

I wish you the best

Thanks @Owlunar .... sometimes a major change brings other major changes along with it,

I think that’s how @Former-Member is feeling too .... like a change needs to happen before a new outcome can happen.

Hi @Faith-and-Hope@Former-Member

I agree with the changes that need to take place - I hadn't got around to reading your posts @Former-Member but it seems that maybe a break from therapy could be a plan - I get along with my therapists but I do contradict them - they are not always right - and my new therapist agrees that it is a good idea to contradict them when it seems to be a good idea

It's not easy to learn

I have read some of your thread - I feel so sad that you feel like scum - whomever told you that was not correct - it's wrong - no one is that bad they deserve to be called that kind of word - I believe without knowing you that you are not such a bad person

It's also hard to change our opinion of ouselves - I guess it comes from the parent-deparment - we are told whatever enters their minds and transfers to us without our faculties being matured enough to sort this out and we believe it but - not true

An example from my life - I was given a hard time - physically then emotionally - and when I was a little kid I had no idea what the thrashing was about - what I had done to deserve it or whatever else

One day my mother just spoke to me - "You are a naughty little girl - a really naughty little girl"

The light bulb was so bright I could just see what I had done was not a good idea - I forget what it was but I was told I was naughty and maybe I was but I forget - what I do remember is that I learned what bad behaviour was

It can be really hard to grow away from those early opinions - they were not ours but we took them on

I can only wish you the best

So,

I've cancelled my appointments with my current psychiatrist.

I've got a referral to a new psychiatrist so that I can get my ADD meds without having to be bullied about taking my other meds.

I've got the contact details for a new therapist - if I ever choose to go down that route.

Starting from the beginning again.

If I decide I need meds, I can go back on them without too much trouble. If I decide that I'm ever stupid enough to want therapy again, I can also engage in that without too much trouble.

But I'm basically free.

No longer a labeled, worthless, mentally ill scum.

It feels good. This is a decision I've been going back and forth about for a long time.

Now I just need to decide if I want to attend that last appointment with that **** of a therapist I've been seeing.

@Former-MemberHi 5-HT definately see that c*nt of a therapist that you have been seeing . You are on the home stretch with this saga go and see what he says but take a list of questions with you. It must be a relief for you to gain some control over the situation that you were finding yoursel in.

Re: I know this post is going to be 'moderated', but I really don't care.

I guess I'm just wondering what the point is?
Do I really value his opinion?
Do I really give a shit about what he has to say?
How does anything he has to say have any impact on my future life?

It feels good, I must say to have control back and this time I know how the system works and I'll be able to have some control over what happens to me. And I understand what the options entail and I can decide if I want to take this or do that.
