Re: Learning about Relationship Boundaries

Re: Learning about Relationship Boundaries

I get so tired of being strong and being positive and thinking of a new approach. I feel pull out positivity like a rabbit from a hat but that it can become false. I am now hypersentsitive and ambivalent about whether I should continue to post or withdraw.

I have had low self-talk and concentration poor.

My son has been the most loyal of all my family to me ..it worries me because he is vulnerable too.

Nobody else cares and I put a lot of effort into family events for decades.

I started swearing and calliing myself piece of dirt and other things like I am becoming a teenager.d .. but i dont want to have to be teenage boy all the time ..

I would like to have been useful

I have managed to get some help and am grateful, for what has worked.

Re: Learning about Relationship Boundaries

@Appleblossom I mostly don't plan too far ahead either. Mainly I like to just have a rough idea of where I might be living and basic things like that. But I have been using a daily activity plan that I adapted from MoodGym. It was one of those kind of exercises where I felt resistant to it at first but then got into in a big way. MoodGym as it currently stands has a bit of a youth orientation in its flavor but I still found it generally helfpul. There is a promised 'revised version' coming that will be more for open adult ages I think.

Yes, family are non-negotiable, though I have distanced myself a lot from extended family. It's only been in more recent years that I've come to re-connect and that's been great. But it doesn't happen too often. Mum and I talk on the phone at least once a week but we were almost completely estranged for several years earlier in my life.

By fluid I mean there's a dynamic interplay of mind, emotion, intuition, instinct, going on all the time. I don't follow text books too closely though I'm open to new learning.

Re: Learning about Relationship Boundaries

Intuition and instinct were difficult words for me as I thought I did not have any ... maybe thats why I looked in the text books for a long time ....

Yesterday I was chatting and someone said I had musical instinct ... next I hope I can feel my good relationships instinct.

I also used to say I had no common sense ... as every time I heard someone saying something about it It was obvious that I didnt realise what was going on.

I am learning ... til the end ...

Dear @Jacques

How are you travelling?

I hope you dont mind but I have a technical question.

I have tried to change my thread title. The newer posts register the new title. Is it possible to change the original title so when it pops up on the forum in the future it is the new title?

Re: Learning about Relationship Boundaries

I am feeling a lot better @Appleblossom, it was nice to chat last night, i hope you, your son and his partner are going ok too.

Ok i think you can do this by editing the first post, and change the title. go to the very first post on this thread and change the title.

I hope this helps. and works.

Re: Learning about Relationship Boundaries

Seems to have worked ... @Jacques thank you ... I feel terrible as I think I have asked the same question before ... I just dont seem to be able to retain new information very well. Thanks for being bothered.

My son's girl is doing ok ... but I am working a little on our relationship ... she makes a big deal about how shy she is, and she is shy, but with me and my son she is very confident, and very direct and often confrontational ... I am researching assertion AGAIN.

Today I had a lovely day at Williamstown ... which is a boat harbour with lovely beachy cafes ... went with old schoolfriend. I am ok ... hope you are.

I am glad to help @Appleblossom, please don't feel bad, i like to help where i can, i struggle lately with retention of informtion too, it must be either the anxiety or the medications.

I too understand the cruelty of animals, but i need meat, i have meat for dinner, i agree that some vegans do find themselves superior because of a percieved view they are not hurting anything, please if you need some information for her, this blew my mind when i first read about it a couple of years ago, when we eat, something always gets hurt.

It is a noble cause being vegitarion, i wish i could, i do like fruit and salads, but have always grown up with meat, my father during WWII had no meat when he was a child, him and his mother ate potatoe and cabbage soup for every meal and for a treat he got a piece of rye bread with lard and sugar. so he always wanted me to have food, as long as it was never wasted, i could not stand throwing out food.

I too was force fed when i was a child by the school nun in the primary school i whent to. It is horrible to have this, i am overweight now because i "comfort eat" as a way of coping now.

I am so glad you had a nice day with a school friend, it is great you still have them to stay in touch, i have not spoken to anyone from school since i left.

Re: Learning about Relationship Boundaries

Thanks @Jacques you are a friend. You are more than just technically helpful .. you get where I am coming from.

Good link

I might try to get "The Omnivore's Dilemna" from the library.

My friend from school days and I have an odd connection ... we lost contact for a decade and then bumped into each other when I was at the Family Court ... she was security guard on duty. She recognised me going in ... and then terrified me by putting my name over the loudspeaker system ... I thought I had done something wrong ... and she was ....cracking up with laughter. She knew my brother and sister when we were kids ... somehow that is important to me.

I am going to sign off and do some music ... cheers

Good night @Appleblossom, enjoy your music, i hope the sounds are like heaven.

I hope the web site helps, it has changed the way i view plants and i respect them more forit.

That is so funny, maybe not at the time, but i am sure you and your friend have a laugh about it now. it is good you have reconnected with people from your past, it is very important for us to move forward.
