Re: Learning about Relationship Boundaries

Re: Learning about Relationship Boundaries

I get so tired of being strong and being positive and thinking of a new approach. I feel pull out positivity like a rabbit from a hat but that it can become false. I am now hypersentsitive and ambivalent about whether I should continue to post or withdraw.

I have had low self-talk and concentration poor.

My son has been the most loyal of all my family to me ..it worries me because he is vulnerable too.

Nobody else cares and I put a lot of effort into family events for decades.

I started swearing and calliing myself piece of dirt and other things like I am becoming a teenager.d .. but i dont want to have to be teenage boy all the time ..

I would like to have been useful

I have managed to get some help and am grateful, for what has worked.

I have never seen this before @Appleblossom … very helpful for me as an Empath dealing with Narcissists. Thank you ❣️

@Appleblossom I love this distinction. Particularly, we cannot change others' behaviour but we can protect ourselves from the consequences of that with definitive boundaries. Certainly a great list for further thinking for many of us 😁👍

Re: Learning about Relationship Boundaries

Read this thread again. It has been so long since I first posted. I have met and dialogued with so many wonderful people. Some people are no longer on the forum, but were friends during crucial periods. Amazingly some people still are around sometimes, even post the recent forum tek changes. Just being able to write my thoughts...into the void.... and often get great responses has been truly therapeutic for me.

Thank you.

I am still a work in progress and have a LOT to do to develop my boundary setting skills. The topic is still relevant, or maybe there are many people in this dog eat dog world who are not aware how often they violate people. I am speaking up more in the present moment, with a broader range of skills, including comedic quips. I do find them more powerful than direct statements.

I am also reflective and sad about the ongoing ramifications of one of the situations I have written about. I was far too hopeful. Some people really do abuse their privilege. She has stooped to using bureacratic mechanisms to get her way, and has been very destructive, regardless of truth, fairness or ethics, or genuine duty of care to my grandson. Seems not that uncommon, in this Mad World.

I need to become more guarded, but do not want a metallic harsh armour. Going for a LOT of different kinds of layers. Like lots of fabrics under a big raincoat with a hood.

Also being proud of what I have actually survived. Its no easy feat. A lot do not.

Still championing basic respect and decency.
