Not coping with life - may trigger

Not coping with life - may trigger

I've noticed my mood and outlook on life lately dip a bit (I've largely hidden it from everyone though). Today I just woke up and wished I wasn't here anymore. I went to therapy and cried my eyes out openly, something I don't normally do. Tonight I am getting by with having a couple of stiff drinks (don't worry I never have more than a couple, I learned my lesson a few years ago with regards to drinking too much. I just feel so confused. It is hard to put a finger on why (I guess there's lots of reasons really).

I am losing sight of ever living my dream... Having a great job in the field of mental health, having my own home and a loving family to support me. Just typing those words made me realise how impossible that dream is. Instead I am just a lowly pensioner who keeps having breakdown after breakdown and letting life pass me by. I just don't know what I am supposed to do anymore! It is just so frustrating! I am so angry at myself to let all I had in my previous life (before MI) slip through my fingers.

I just am not coping with anything at the moment. I pretend to be 'happy' in order to try and feel happy (that old fake it til you make it adage). I am just super stressed out. I am supposed to have the best day in my life coming up in a few months, but to be honest I couldn't give a rats about it deep down. Yes, I love my gf and yes I want to spend the rest of my life with her, but it all just seems too hard. I just want to go to bed and hide (or worse).

Sorry this is such a ramble, I don't mean it to be. I've had racing thoughts all day. I tried doing a mindfulness meditation but couldn't for longer than a minute without opening my eyes and being distracted. I guess what triggered me the most was my lack of a relationship with my father. When I was a little girl, he used to love my company and would spend many hours reading to me and spending time with me. Now he seems allergic to my presence. I rarely hear from him and only see twice per year (if that). He is the only family I have, but he is only seemingly interested in his new family (my stepmother and her child and grandkids). He even said to me he wished I was never born to my face. That remark still stings today, years after he said it. It just breaks my heart.

I guess I should stop rambling and hit 'post' before my life story becomes too recognisable and people who are on this forum that I know in RL might recognise me.

Cest le vie.

Re: Not coping with life - may trigger

I managed to reschedule the psychologist for a week later. Hopefully this time I won't have to cancel. I tried explaining to my gf I really need this appointment sooner rather than later, but because of the travel to another town for her appointment, I had to cancel. Oh well can't be helped I guess.

Good news about the rescheduled psych appointment @Queenie. Please prioritise this appt. As you mentioned relationships are give and take but it needs to be balanced. Some giving and some taking but if only one person is giving it becomes a real worry.

Re: Not coping with life - may trigger

It is good news @Pepsimax and @Kurra that I was able to reschedule fairly quickly.

@Kurra very true, relationships are about give and take. I think ours is balanced most of the time. Just sometimes I have to give in, most because I am the lowest in the pecking order so to speak. It's my gf mum's house so she is top of the food chain, followed by my gf, then me and the pets. I never get to watch what I want on tv, but that's okay because I don't really watch much tv and all I'd do is put it on the music channel anyway. I also never get a say in what we eat, I like food with herbs and spices, but they don't so unless I want to buy my own food and cook it (which is kinda dumb really), I just go along with whatever. I'm a pretty passive person really. Always have been.

Re: Not coping with life - may trigger

I had to have some extra PRN medication before as I am really struggling with voices. I didn't get a lot of sleep last night and the sleep that I did have was all nightmares that was gobbledegook and didn't make sense. I feel really unsettled because of it and the hallucinations, so therefore the need for extra meds. My gf and her Mum are watching tv and I am sitting in my corner of the kitchen on my computer. I wish I knew how to fix what is wrong with me. One of my friends today contacted me via Facecrook and tried to sign me up to a herbal and paleo diet and to do away with meds. At least I have the insight to know I need medications in order to stay well. I've tried going off them in the past with disasterous results.

Did I tell y'all we have a new kitten? It was bought for my gf's Mum to help her with her loss of our dog. However the strange thing seems to have bonded mostly with me. Weird thing!

Re: Not coping with life - may trigger

Pets tend to choose who their person is going to be. Sounds as if it's you @Queenie. 🐱

The poor kitten must be terribly confused @Kurra lol! If I were it, I wouldn't choose me.

Re: Not coping with life - may trigger

I suspect kitty won't be concerned about what you think @Queenie. You may well find the little might very comforting. 💕🐱

Re: Not coping with life - may trigger

Thankfully the kitten has now worked out who her owner is and has now bonded with the correct person. It was good company while it lasted I guess. All I do now is sleep anyway and for a kitten, that's kinda boring I guess. I feel so emotionally exhausted that any energy I do have is taken up doing daily tasks. Tomorrow I go to the doctor to find out the results of my medical tests and find out supposedly what is physically wrong with me. I'm actually hoping that something was found, so there is rhyme and reason as to why I feel the way I do. I feel so teary all the time and yet in front of others I don't cry. At least for the past two nights I've been able to let loose in the tear department because my gf has been sleeping in the spare room to keep the kitten company.

Re: Not coping with life - may trigger

Have you thought about getting a kitten or a puppy for @Queenie? Sounds like Queenie needs someone/some animal just for her. 🐕🐈
