Tooky History: Clipart but potentially triggering

Tooky History: Clipart but potentially triggering

This is a little project I did earlier this week, inspired by @Faith-and-Hope on one of the art threads, also @Appleblossom and Sherry, and some others on the Carers side.

The story "reads" left to right line by line as you would a book.

Some will "get it" some probably won't but nonetheless, it depicts my "black hole" story and everything in it is chosen or placed deliberately. It's supposed to be a side by side trilogy but in this format it's the three sequential pages so the pics in the collage can be seen.

It's a little scary posting it because it means something to me but well here it is anyhow.

Re: Tooky History: Clipart but potentially triggering

of course you are.. and guess what?? for the same reason I was and am peeved.... invalidation! That isn't MI related... nobody.... nobody likes be ignored, invalidated or brushed off or lied to or treated that way... and the fact that text was ignored.... I bet you are feeling exactly like I was feeling last night.. the way I'm still feelingn if I don't keep occupied.... that's not MI.. that's real stuff @Former-Member and you have every right to feel that way and I would feel exactly that way were it me. That also is bullshittte... and how dare they do that to you? So be angry, be whatever it is you want to be... and put the onus where it should be.. on that person who told you to text and then didn't answer you. Because like the shitttte with the BPD diagnosis... the blame lies with the MH industry.. not you, not me, not anybody but the system that created such a stupid nonsensical, ill researched and ill defined diagnosis.

See what I'm saying? This isn't us, it isn't me and it isn't you... it's a system and people in it that let us down for whatever reason. it's a broken system and we are victims of it.

Re: Tooky History: Clipart but potentially triggering

@Former-Member - all the reasearch I have done, talking to my psych and hearing what you guys on this forum have to say has led me to believe that there was a whole lot more going on with my ex than BPD. I think both he and I wanted to believe that it was the reason for his behaviour.

It was too horrible to think that it was this whole other bad stuff happening as well. For him it was probably to give him an excuse and for me to legitimise being in the relationship.

I have no doubt whatsoever that violence is never okay even with mental illness. There was always a choice. He chose to hurt me and damage my property. He hurt me when no one else could see but was bolder when we were overseas and domestic violence was not seen as being as serious a problem as it is here.

I have no doubt that BPD is a real condition and sufferers are entitled to quality treatment and should avail themselves to receive it. @Former-Member and my experiences were different from those of the majority of BPD partners. This should no way reflect on you.

I can't do this. I appreciate what you're saying @Former-Member. I really shouldn't be here and not at 2am

@Former-Member ok. But just promise me you aren't going to blame yourself for being human. Please.

Re: Tooky History: Clipart but potentially triggering

@soul yep... I didn't want to face it either.. because it was "too horrible" I wanted to be wrong. I wasn't wrong. Unfortunately, I wish I had been. I worked so hard to be wrong. Harder than I've worked on anything in my life.

Re: Tooky History: Clipart but potentially triggering

@Former-Member @soul @Former-Member From now on I'm forgetting the bullshiiite diagnosis of BPD on my ex... because I know what he was.. and a psych that talked to him for 4 hours no way could possibly know him like I did, so what makes their diagnosis relevant anyhow?. So from now on, because all it does it cause me problems, I'm not even acknowledging that shitte.

He was a conniving manipulative piece of cr@p and that's all I really need to know or say about him.

Detox Day for me - body, mind and soul. Hope everyone is okay. Do something nice for yourself.

Re: Tooky History: Clipart but potentially triggering

Good morning @Former-Member and @soul. I too hope everyone is ok.

With a fresher set of eyes, I've read over some of this again this morning. Something that's really standing out is, although we have our own unique experiences and no-one can really know what we've each been through, it's clear our lives have been impacted by manipulation, violence and trauma. The words BPD have hurt us in our own ways. We've felt invalidated, our experiences have been ignored and important signs that something was really wrong have been overlooked, and that's had lasting effects. There is togetherness here in our aloneness (I think I'm making up words now but they feel right).
I wrote and then deleted a bunch of stuff about BPD and abuse because, at the end of the day, I think the point is that we've been hurt at the hands of another person/people. For me, the line between what's acceptable and what's not acceptable is when it crosses over into hurting someone else.
Tooky - I think you need to look at what's happened in whatever way it is that feels right for you. You've been hurt at the hands of another person. That person made choices that hurt you. That's not ok and I'm sorry that happened to you.
With regard to the later parts of this conversation, I am angry Tooky. I want to stand up and fight the systems that have made this harder. The things that can and do happen are almost impossible to believe sometimes, and I was someone who was fighting it, loudly and passionately. You've given me insight into another way systems can let people down, and that will stick with me. I won't forget what you've shared and gaining insight is so important to me, so thank you. Right now, I can not fight this because it's dangerous to for many reasons. I need people to fight it for me (for us all) for a while. Until I'm not leaning so heavily on these systems for my own survival, I can't do it. Thank you for seeing what's wrong and for feeling frustrated with it.
Today my plan is to be gentle with myself and that probably means not getting involved in conversations that evoke big feelings.
Hope today is good for you both 💛

@Former-Member @soul I'm doing what is right for me. i'm leaving this side of the forum. I do thank everyone for trying to support me. I think it is making me regress. Not either of you, but it seems to be a place where people can get stuck in some kind of horrible cycle. I know everyone "out there" in the lived it side means well, or 99% do, but I don't think for me, it's a place to get healthy. For me, the way I got out of my trauma was being proactive. I know both of you intend on that too, I know you two won't just talk about things, or rehash the same cr@p over and over, day in day out, that you'll DO things to get better, as will @Former-Member. I need company, but I don't need a blanket of neediness.

Re: Tooky History: Clipart but potentially triggering

Regretting terribly that I opened this email.

@Former-Member - I really hope you find what it is you need from here/there. Your ability to know what that is and articulate it clearly, is something I have enormous respect for. Your company is enjoyable and I hope you find the same from others.
