~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

Hey hi hello! Welcome to the second iteration of...

~ The Toolshed ~

I decided to make a new thread, as the first one had errors and phantom pages, and was getting quite long! You can still find all the amazing pics, inspiring quotes, and uplifting messages of the first Toolshed here.

What is the Toolshed? Ain't a place to hang your hammer! Hehe this is a space where we can share the things that have helped us in our recovery. Tools, coping skills, inspiring ideas, and messages of hope and growth, is what this space is all about!!

You can stay connected and up to date on this space by favouriting, or by subscribing to the thread - head to the top of the page, and find the three dots to the right of the thread title (next to the star), click, and from the drop down menu you can 'favourite' or 'subscribe' - and clicking the star itself will also favourite the thread for you.

Favourite threads are then always available in your favourites list which should appear on the right hand side of most forums pages - or you can go to your profile and scroll down to the 'Favourites' section under your recent posts.

If you subscribe, it means that you will get a notification every time someone posts something new in the thread. So up to you if you simply want it to be always accessible, or if you want all the updates, or both!

I invite anyone who wishes to contribute to do so! It doesn't have to be pictures, it can be discussion, questions, videos, whatever you like! So without further ado, here's my latest batch!

Re: ~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

@PeppyPatti You are totally right. These are the kind of grounded techniques i get taught as well, but here i'm in a tarring hurry and want certain trauma memories to try and stop cycling me into a deep and dangerous depression.

i find myself in a really tacky situation for my depression comes in bouts and i can cycle from feeling okay into a suicidal depression within hours. Especially now on my own, and stuck big time with fixation issues. i have been trying to get aid outside my wife but it has not been forth coming. Medical aid is not useful here either for their meds will certain put me rock bottom.

@Jynx @Mustang67 @MissGremlin @Cuddlebear

So in this case if i do the little bite step by step bit, then dealing with the suppressed emotions is going to take me months. Nevertheless 'going in overdrive' helped enormously breaking with my depressive mood, in which i seem to have just one conclusion in how to best deal with myself. It is by far my preferred one otherwise.

i have dealt with massive trauma upheaval like this more by accident then on purpose, for i took too big a bites trying to deal with the trauma quicker for i felt strong enough. To be nauseous like that is a real shocker, i have never felt so nauseous in my life, did not know it could get that bad, than during the 1/2 dozen times this has happened to me now over the last 2 years.

Yet paradoxically each of those session had me work through such an incredible amount of stuff and always done is done with that part. This is why i have been using it more often when i cannot cope the pressure. For the depression always brings trauma along with it and this being bound by my own negativity has me basically helpless to my emotional overloads. Especially on my own and awaking nightmares, which seems to be the times i fall.

However i lack sleep, a lot of sleep, for more than 4 weeks now and i have been struggling to get that right even with medications. so punishing my body to such extremities is not good either and is likely making my physical un wellness worse, even if it does help me mentally.

It can be so hard to know what to do at times😞

Some more inspiring words from Ravenwolf
The world had a script for me...how to look, how to be, how to be something and someone acceptable.
I listened for a while and tried to wear it like a second skin.
But it never fit and it never felt like me.
If blending in brings you peace, walk that path.
But I was never meant to fade into the background.
I’m not here to outshine anyone or dim another soul’s light.
We all carry our own fire, our own direction, our own becoming.
I’ll always respect that and always root for it.
But my light burns different.
My style, my energy, my truth are unapologetically mine.
Not built for approval and not shaped for applause.
Only for authenticity.
I don’t need permission to exist as I am.
I don’t need acceptance to accept my own path.
Rain or shine, I walk it anyway.
And beauty is not what the world told me it was.
I know where mine lives.
In the way my heart feels deeply.
In the way my spirit refuses to break.
In the way my soul chooses love again and again.
I see people beyond their surface.
I meet them where they are, not where the world says they should be.
And if I can lift someone, I will every time.
Maybe I haven’t walked your road.
But I see your strength and respect your journey.
I live with quiet dignity.
I love with a depth that doesn’t ask permission.
So I don’t care what they see when they look at me.
Because when I face the mirror, I see truth.
I see fire.
I see beauty that runs deeper than skin.
Not measured by wealth.
Not defined by image.
But rooted in something real.
And if someone tries to tell you otherwise, look beyond their eyes.
That’s where the truth always hides.
Real beauty begins within and never asks for validation.

@Jynx lol, yes, I know, soooo difficult to have to go buy more plants! I mentioned to @tyme that I was going to do a new thread called the Sane Garden for those of you I've plants named after. It is just a place to show your namesakes off and let you know how they are going.

@Bunniekins @Glisten @PeppyPatti

Let me know what you think and if you would like to be tagged if I do create a new thread dedicated to your plant namesakes 🙂

Re: ~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

@Glisten Numpty neighbour is demanding a 2m steel fence. He can demand what he likes, I am only paying for the standard 1.8 Colorbond and I am not fussed about the colour. He threatened me with the council and I laughed because I had already spoken to the council and he is in a world of hurt if he goes ahead without approval on the fence. He's SOL (sh*t outta luck) until I get my inheritance anyway because I don't have the funds to pay for a new fence and it's not covered by insurance because it isn't classified as damaged and in need of replacement.

Glad you managed to get rid of the passionfruit, I am still considering dropping by with Paris for you to clean in return for helping paint. I have done painting before - the Boulder Railway Museum, water tanks, walls. And I'll bring MM along to oversee the project. I don't know what's going on but he's been very sookie the last couple of days. I wonder if I can get a harness on him and take him to Funnings with me? People like to bring their dogs in, I don't see why MM couldn't come with me 😂
