Talking through trauma and PTSD

Safe Now

Safe Now

I went and saw my psychologist yesterday. We talked about some of my trauma stuff in both yesterday’s session and the session before it. Now I am here today having to reassure myself that I am safe now!

Hi @tyme

I am doing better today, I think taking things a bit easy over the weekend was very helpful. How are you doing? I read somewhere that things had been up and down for you the past couple of weeks?

Re: Safe Now

Hey @Oaktree , yeah, things have been a bit up and down, but nothing that can't be tackled.

How are you feeling today?

Re: Safe Now

Hi @tyme

I am feeling good today. Have taken it easy this week. Got half a day at Tafe tomorrow. Need to catch up on some assessment questions. Still have a couple of recorded lectures to watch. Don’t see my psychologist this week and the break is kinda nice.

Hey @Oaktree ,

That's really good to hear that today's been better.

I'm pacing myself too. As I said, things have been up and down, and as part of self care, I think pacing ourselves is so important.

I hope TAFE will be okay for you.

Hi @Till23 @MJG017 @tyme

Hi Till, Gremlin’s thread wasn’t the right place so I am dragging you here to my thread. I am dealing with childhood abuse between me and many people but the one that is causing me most distress at the moment is trauma caused by my older brother. I really can’t go into detail here because the content would be triggering.

I love a hot shower, listening to music, doing art, watching tv or sleeping

Hi @Oaktree yes me too.

TW: Cancer treatment / trauma / abuse

Content/trigger warning
.

I know the timing is not good with your studies, but these things just occur and we have no control over it. For me, I was having cancer treatment and continued to work for the first 3 weeks of treatment.

If you are having difficulties you would be able to apply for special consideration for your studies to delay units or assessment, if you thought you needed it.

@Till23

I did let the lecturer know but I don’t want to ask for an extension because it’s a group assessment I am working on. I have already submitted all the knowledge question assessments.

I think you are understanding the kind of abuse I went through. It’s all very confusing because even though it was not my fault I am now blaming myself.

Re: Safe Now

It’s great you have strategies in place @Oaktree

I also like to have a shower especially if I am anxious and I find it helps, at least temporarily.

Sometimes watching TV or sleeping is not possible for me if I’m too anxious.

I definitely need to do something arts and crafts wise again though.

What do you like to do art wise?
