Talking through trauma and PTSD

Safe Now

Safe Now

I went and saw my psychologist yesterday. We talked about some of my trauma stuff in both yesterday’s session and the session before it. Now I am here today having to reassure myself that I am safe now!

Re: Safe Now

I am going through a tough spot lately.

Went to my appointment with a stand in psychiatrist at the clinic today.

She is only here until the permanent doctor starts in January.

She only just met me and already started talking about discharge.

I just burst into tears.

My GP won't take on my care for my mental health.

She says I am too complicated.

Also the clinic pays for my medication, which I can't afford.

I don't know what I am supposed to do...?

Oh gosh, this must be so overwhelming and I completely understand why you would be feeling dismissed and confused about what's next... @Oaktree

It's so scary to hear that our supports might not be there, I am so sorry you are going through this. They could have given you some time to speak, be heard, and to feel more supported before jumping straight to discharge talk. 🤦

I wonder if you could talk to someone else in the clinic about how you're feeling? Is that an option? 💛

@AuntGlow

My case manager was there in the appointment.

When I got home I rang her and told her that I didn't wish to see this Dr again.

She told me to sleep on it and we would talk about it tomorrow.

Before this appointment I wasn't having any suicidal thoughts.

Now I am not so sure. I am safe though.

Okay, did you feel like you had a sense of advocacy in the appointment? @Oaktree

I hope you can talk it through openly with her tomorrow, maybe really addressing the core need here will be helpful as well?

How you're feeling is so, so valid.

I know you're safe, but I also know your thoughts are unsafe at the moment - what can I do to be there for you? 💛
