Talking through trauma and PTSD

Safe Now

Safe Now

I went and saw my psychologist yesterday. We talked about some of my trauma stuff in both yesterday’s session and the session before it. Now I am here today having to reassure myself that I am safe now!

Hi @Jynx

My appointment went well today. I was in a good mood so my psychologist didn’t want to spoil that so we just had a chat. We talked about some happy memories from my childhood. It was nice to remember some of the good things

I don’t think you are working today. I am struggling a bit at the moment. The stress of these 3 weeks of role plays is getting to me. I am feeling really down. I don’t know what I want to do regarding continuing on with study. I have the suicide unit next term which I am a bit worried about triggering me. Have you got any advice?

Re: Safe Now

Hey @Oaktree, nice to see you here this evening!

What are you studying at the moment? I have been at TAFE for the past 8 years and did a lot of role plays too, so I can relate.

Hi @RiverSeal

sorry I have been on the phone with my daughter in Hawaii

I am studying the cert IV mental health peer work.

I am at the top of my class but I am feeling stressed right now

Re: Safe Now

Amazing @Oaktree I'm graduating from that course this month! I really enjoyed it and found it so helpful for my role here at SANE. I can understand that you feel it may be triggering and I don't want to trigger any thoughts by talking about it.

But just wondering if you have any questions or want to let me know how I can support you with this?

Hope your daughter is well!

@RiverSeal

I really am not struggling with the content but I have history of a suicide attempt. I am hoping to get a job at Sane. I just applied actually but the timing is not ideal

Re: Safe Now

I wish you the best of luck with your application to SANE @Oaktree!

I have had uncompleted suicides too, and can understand how you feel about potentially being triggered. I'm sure if you talk with your teacher and are transparent, they will support you. I also had support with a disability plan, so not sure if you have something similar. There may be some allowances with this particular instance that you can explore.
