Talking through trauma and PTSD

Running

Running

"Behind every strong person is a story that gave them no choice"

My life is all about a lack of choice.

I'm alive because death would've outed him, it would have sealed his fate in prison.

TW: cultic, rape, trafficking, torture

I'm the daughter of a Satanist...

One trained to breed...

One pregnant at 6 years old...

One prostituted to whoever could afford her...

The girl her dad didn't want...

One men hired to have fun with...

One men experimented with...

One who was tortured for speaking up...

One trained for the sole purpose to please her buyer...

Regardless of age...

Still though...

One who never stayed silent...

One who broke free... twice...

One who rose up...

One who seeks to prove them wrong...

One who has been running for 15 years...

One who just needs to feel heard...

One who went through hell and survived...

That this Phoenix can rise...

She will not be burned...

She's proven that...

I have proven that...

I'm 35 and 90% of those I've been in prolonged abusive situations insufficient evidence for prosecution

A system that protects the abuser more than the survivor

And yet I still try

I don't try for me, I try for the ones after me, the ones like me, that they will see their justice

But for now I run...

From a dad that wants me silenced...

From the nightmares that plague my sleep...

From the memories that invade my mind...

From the choices made for me...

Didn't expect that to come out as poetic as it did

Re: Running

@avant-garde very understandable, and thank you for letting me know hun.

Still with you. Are you able to identify what you do need right now?

Re: Running

@Jynx I need to feel heard and cared for and loved and validated... the flashback is so so intense and in trying so hard to cope with it

Re: Running

@avant-garde if you can, take some slow, measured breaths. You are safe here, you are here now with me, not stuck in that past.

You're an absolute gem hun, I get giddy when we chat. Our inner children love to play together. I think that means that you have to be a safe person, a wonderful person, a deserving and worthy person, else we'd not be able to be this open.

I see you, I hear you, and as much as I can, I hold you 💜

Re: Running

@Jynx it was the hard plastic breathing tube that I had I had to repeatedly breathe hard and fast into with a secure seal, both in and out...

Re: Running

@avant-garde ahh, breathing not a good focus right now then. Valid.

I think with flashbacks, it is helpful to find ways to 'remind' your body that you are not stuck in that past. Odd thought, but how would you feel about something like singing to yourself? Singing actually calms the big nerve in our guts that controls the fight/flight response - it soothes! And it would also be doing something distinctly different with your breath.

Feel free to shoot me ideas down!! And if making suggestions isn't helpful that's also valid, just let me know 🤞

Re: Running

@Jynx grounding statement helped...

My name is (full name). I am (age) years old. It is (day) the (date). I am (location) in (suburb). I am safe, they can't hurt me anymore. I know I am safe because (senses).

Re: Running

@avant-garde nice, glad it's helpful!! Saying stuff aloud helps me too.

If you feel comfy/want to, you could describe to me some details of the room you're in?
