Talking through trauma and PTSD

Running

Running

"Behind every strong person is a story that gave them no choice"

My life is all about a lack of choice.

I'm alive because death would've outed him, it would have sealed his fate in prison.

TW: cultic, rape, trafficking, torture

I'm the daughter of a Satanist...

One trained to breed...

One pregnant at 6 years old...

One prostituted to whoever could afford her...

The girl her dad didn't want...

One men hired to have fun with...

One men experimented with...

One who was tortured for speaking up...

One trained for the sole purpose to please her buyer...

Regardless of age...

Still though...

One who never stayed silent...

One who broke free... twice...

One who rose up...

One who seeks to prove them wrong...

One who has been running for 15 years...

One who just needs to feel heard...

One who went through hell and survived...

That this Phoenix can rise...

She will not be burned...

She's proven that...

I have proven that...

I'm 35 and 90% of those I've been in prolonged abusive situations insufficient evidence for prosecution

A system that protects the abuser more than the survivor

And yet I still try

I don't try for me, I try for the ones after me, the ones like me, that they will see their justice

But for now I run...

From a dad that wants me silenced...

From the nightmares that plague my sleep...

From the memories that invade my mind...

From the choices made for me...

Didn't expect that to come out as poetic as it did

@tyme

My anxiety is through the roof

I'm watching letters and numbers

I can't really think logically right now

Re: Running

Hey @avant-garde ,

So so sorry to hear about the anxiety. What would be helpful for you to help you regulate? I'm sensing that reading letters and numbers isn't very helpful at the moment?

Sitting with you.

Re: Running

@tyme

I'm scared of the surgery, I suddenly have a date and it's not far away at all. I'm still shaking and finding it hard to regulate.

Re: Running

I totally hear you @avant-garde

Your feelings are so so so valid.

At this point, what would be most helpful for you on the forums? I'm happy to sit with you. Or if you wanted to brainstorm ideas or ways of coping, that's also okay.

If you just wanted an ear - I'm all ears.

I've only met my surgeon once, I need help grounding and planning.

The surgeon said I should be ok to drive after 24 hours, Google said different. I wish I could talk to the surgeon once more before the procedure. It's not like I ever drive far.

Re: Running

Hearing you @avant-garde ,

Is it an option of having someone drive you? I remember you had a friend help you out before and they were so helpful.

Now that you have a date, what sort of things can help you stay grounded?

Re: Running

@tyme

It's general anaesthetic so I'm not allowed to drive for 24 hours

I have someone for afterwards and I have an appointment with my case manager in the morning which I'm sure she will be fine to either drive me there or sit with me if I'm waiting

Re: Running

That's amazing to hear that you have that support @avant-garde

Well done for reaching out. I know it's not easy at the best of times.

As for supporting you to ground yourself, do you have particular strategies that work e.g. some gravitate towards scents, others may gravitate towards having a weighted blanket. Anything in particular you think might work?

Re: Running

@tyme

I'm actually starting to get the answers on letters and numbers which kind of tells me that I'm settling

I might go check the mail to see if there's a letter with more information and a cold shower might help with a shower steamer

Re: Running

Oh that's huge @avant-garde very understandable to feel a lot - and even to feel not much at all, too.

Are the folks doing the surgery aware that you may be needing some extra support along the way?

Sending you soothing vibes hun 💜
