Talking through trauma and PTSD

Running

Running

"Behind every strong person is a story that gave them no choice"

My life is all about a lack of choice.

I'm alive because death would've outed him, it would have sealed his fate in prison.

TW: cultic, rape, trafficking, torture

I'm the daughter of a Satanist...

One trained to breed...

One pregnant at 6 years old...

One prostituted to whoever could afford her...

The girl her dad didn't want...

One men hired to have fun with...

One men experimented with...

One who was tortured for speaking up...

One trained for the sole purpose to please her buyer...

Regardless of age...

Still though...

One who never stayed silent...

One who broke free... twice...

One who rose up...

One who seeks to prove them wrong...

One who has been running for 15 years...

One who just needs to feel heard...

One who went through hell and survived...

That this Phoenix can rise...

She will not be burned...

She's proven that...

I have proven that...

I'm 35 and 90% of those I've been in prolonged abusive situations insufficient evidence for prosecution

A system that protects the abuser more than the survivor

And yet I still try

I don't try for me, I try for the ones after me, the ones like me, that they will see their justice

But for now I run...

From a dad that wants me silenced...

From the nightmares that plague my sleep...

From the memories that invade my mind...

From the choices made for me...

Didn't expect that to come out as poetic as it did

Re: Running

Super rough @avant-garde I hope you can catch up on some snoozles soon. Do you have strategies to help you wind down and such?

Re: Running

Bout to finish up @avant-garde some evenings I am here a bit later now!

That's great to hear. Sleep can be so tricky, for me the hardest nights are the ones where I know I ought to be sleeping, or need it. Can put internal pressure on myself then get frustrated when I don't fall asleep right away.... which keeps me up even longer.

I hope you find yourself drifting off with ease 😊💜 Night night!

it's hard to know what helps me, I guess whatever brings the stressor down to within my capacity, a seizure kind of does that for me, but so does talking and processing either stuff from that moment or stuff I'm holding onto.

Yes there was a lot, we dealt with the two big things to free up some processing space, if that makes sense. Next appointment in two weeks.

I enjoyed the Charlie and the chocolate factory musical that Jasmine and I went to see a few years back.

That makes a lot of sense. It sounds like regulating really helps you? @avant-garde

I am so sorry your body has this reaction, it must be a lot for you to go through every time. 💛

How did it feel to address those two big things?

That must be a really nice memory to have. Charlie is a very fun show!

What kind of music/art are you indulging in at the moment? ☺️

@AuntGlow

Regulation does help a lot, it helps stop the puffer fish from blowing up

I'd rather the seizures than some other disorders that could have developed instead.

I had forgotten what it was like to release, that I get dizzy from the such big things becoming significantly lighter

I'm working on a jigsaw puzzle for a friend of mine

I was thinking of you this very moment @avant-garde ! Let me just go check out that other post you were referring to.

Hope you are okay.

Oh, for some reason, I don't recall case management being involved. Sorry if I've missed anything.

It sounds like it was tough - not being heard?

@tyme

Street to home program, from when I was homeless, a support service aimed to get people into government housing who don't have addictions as such.

12 months from being housed you get discharged, which for me is July.

This new case manager (NCM) she's very green and it was her first day and I get it.

Her supervisor (SV) contacted me today after I sent a message last night to NCM being very forward and basically saying that I don't need her, using distance as an excuse.

The SV is someone I am familiar with and someone I know well enough.

I sent some feedback through to the activity team who sent it through to SV.

The SV contacted me while my phone was on silent and I was in my peer group.

My former case manager had given me SV's number.

I have now messaged the SV directly saying I'm not comfortable meeting alone with her for the first time because of the first impression I got from her.

That for my anxiety to stay manageable I need someone familiar there.

The inner critic is saying that I'm being a wuss and to just get over it.

The protective part is saying to just ignore them all together

But me? I want to give her a chance and think my requests are reasonable

Re: Running

Oh yikes @avant-garde that's so awful. I saw that you mentioned there's 'no chance of getting someone new' - what about feedback and complaints? Legit if that doesn't feel like a safe/approachable pathway, I just dislike hearing how invalidated you felt and how powerless it is sounding for you to be able to change this situation.

Edit: just read your latest post 😅 I think it's a super reasonable request - no one knows your needs better than you do. Fingers crossed for a favourable outcome 🤞

Re: Running

I applaud your strength and assertiveness in advocating for yourself. In a way, I'm glad the SV contacted you.

Considering you will have to work with the NCM, it's important you feel comfortable, and if you don't, tell them like you have.

I really want to say, well done for being courageous an speaking out. @avant-garde And yes, I also think your resquests are reasonable.
