Talking through trauma and PTSD

Running

Running

"Behind every strong person is a story that gave them no choice"

My life is all about a lack of choice.

I'm alive because death would've outed him, it would have sealed his fate in prison.

TW: cultic, rape, trafficking, torture

I'm the daughter of a Satanist...

One trained to breed...

One pregnant at 6 years old...

One prostituted to whoever could afford her...

The girl her dad didn't want...

One men hired to have fun with...

One men experimented with...

One who was tortured for speaking up...

One trained for the sole purpose to please her buyer...

Regardless of age...

Still though...

One who never stayed silent...

One who broke free... twice...

One who rose up...

One who seeks to prove them wrong...

One who has been running for 15 years...

One who just needs to feel heard...

One who went through hell and survived...

That this Phoenix can rise...

She will not be burned...

She's proven that...

I have proven that...

I'm 35 and 90% of those I've been in prolonged abusive situations insufficient evidence for prosecution

A system that protects the abuser more than the survivor

And yet I still try

I don't try for me, I try for the ones after me, the ones like me, that they will see their justice

But for now I run...

From a dad that wants me silenced...

From the nightmares that plague my sleep...

From the memories that invade my mind...

From the choices made for me...

Didn't expect that to come out as poetic as it did

Gosh no, apparently I'm overqualified enough.

Nice @avant-garde ...

Nah, I don't think you can ever be overqualified to not have anymore to learn and study..

I've got so many degrees, but I'm still going.. haven't had enough yet.

Re: Running

@Jynx you're going away for a week! And you didn't say anything! I had to find out in another thread! You were going to say something weren't you?

Nah it's all good, we can still spam you with birthday notifications for when you get back. Please leave us with a healthy dose of memes before you go and know that we're thinking fondly of you as you enjoy your birthday adventures.

But you better come back

I'm curious as to who will be wearing your shoes while you're away

I will officially miss you

I don't have to be alone in my grief today.

My grandmother died 10 years ago today

She was the most beautiful woman you would ever meet, as stubborn as a mule but her actions spoke louder than her words

The things she taught me will stay with me the rest of my life, that I'm worth fighting for, to love without limits, that reputations can be wrong.

I was considered the black sheep and she had given me the time, love and compassion to see me, that I am just like her and got labelled by other family just like she did.

We weren't just grandma and granddaughter, we were sisters, friends...

She was my world and taught me what it means to feel loved

Re: Running

What a beautiful and special relationship @avant-garde

It sounds like she was a remarkable woman with a lot of love and warmth to share and that the impact of this lives on in you and those whose lives she touched.

My aunt was a piece of work though... she was so jealous and purposefully cruel... she used my grandmother's death to hurt me so so deeply

This is part of what I wrote a few years ago

"My aunt didn't understand our relationship, she was jealous that I had what she wanted, that love that she never understood, I wasn't one to be associated with, the family's black sheep. My grandma though was my best friend and I was hers, she said I was the daughter she wanted, that her legacy of love was left with me, that our relationship wasn't an obligation, because I came back to her and made a point to develop a relationship with her, that the love we had for each other wasn't because we had too, but because we wanted to.

The night she died, it was 10pm and my aunt called me, said that gran wouldn't make it through the night, but I knew my grandma, she wouldn't want me to travel on public transport at 10pm for an hour, that it's not safe, she wouldn't want to put me in danger. My aunt wanted me there, but I knew my grandma wouldn't want me to do anything stupid to put myself in danger.

Then the funeral, and she asked me if there was anything that I wanted of gran's and all I wanted was the poetry book gran would read to me, she said she'd give it to me, but she gave it to my mum instead. Mum didn't care for the book with its brittle pages and used it as a coaster when she was reorganising my former room. I asked her for it, and after a bit of persuasion, I got it.

Then the ashes, my aunt said that she wanted me there when they spread the ashes, said they'd tell me, then I found out 2 weeks after they spread them, that it was already done."

She was also the one to blame me for my mum's situation and that it was my job now to rescue her...
