Talking through trauma and PTSD

Running

Running

"Behind every strong person is a story that gave them no choice"

My life is all about a lack of choice.

I'm alive because death would've outed him, it would have sealed his fate in prison.

TW: cultic, rape, trafficking, torture

I'm the daughter of a Satanist...

One trained to breed...

One pregnant at 6 years old...

One prostituted to whoever could afford her...

The girl her dad didn't want...

One men hired to have fun with...

One men experimented with...

One who was tortured for speaking up...

One trained for the sole purpose to please her buyer...

Regardless of age...

Still though...

One who never stayed silent...

One who broke free... twice...

One who rose up...

One who seeks to prove them wrong...

One who has been running for 15 years...

One who just needs to feel heard...

One who went through hell and survived...

That this Phoenix can rise...

She will not be burned...

She's proven that...

I have proven that...

I'm 35 and 90% of those I've been in prolonged abusive situations insufficient evidence for prosecution

A system that protects the abuser more than the survivor

And yet I still try

I don't try for me, I try for the ones after me, the ones like me, that they will see their justice

But for now I run...

From a dad that wants me silenced...

From the nightmares that plague my sleep...

From the memories that invade my mind...

From the choices made for me...

Didn't expect that to come out as poetic as it did

@Jynx

I wish people at church would see beyond how I present and celebrate my achievements with me, I mean I keep myself so so busy, I make jewellery and write amazing poetry and have illustrated an entire book and I am going to be in an art exhibition!

But do my church notice these things? No.

They see that I don't have a steady job

I have a messy car

I have a cluttered house

I'm not married

I don't have kids (to their satisfaction and understanding)

I don't have my own home

I don't have family

That I don't measure up to other women my age.

But I'm probably the most free of them all

Because at least I'm learning who I am

It still hurts though

Re: Running

@avant-garde I think sometimes people can have a very narrow lens - they have a very specific idea of what a 'successful life' looks like and will harshly critique anyone who dares to live outside that tiny box.

I hope you have/find people who celebrate your successes as your successes, not some idea of what you or anyone should be doing.

@Jynx

Yeah, I've also come up with creative answers to "so what's your job"

"I do a lot of different things, writing and illustrating books, selling jewellery and tutoring in tech"

Now I can add that I'm assisting in an exhibition

I don't say I don't have a job.

Re: Running

@avant-garde Clever. Half-truths help immensely when we don't feel like opening up certain cans of worms with certain people hey.

Exhibition of your art is such a wonderful accomplishment too - many people with 'jobs' couldn't even hope to achieve something like that!!

@Jynx

Then my head goes "I may not have a job, but I have a life"

And I get paid for my jewellery

@avant-garde oh sweet, reading this hurt. I'm so sorry for what she put you through, you didn't deserve any of it. I'm truly sorry that i reminded you of this by my post.
