Talking through trauma and PTSD

Running

Running

"Behind every strong person is a story that gave them no choice"

My life is all about a lack of choice.

I'm alive because death would've outed him, it would have sealed his fate in prison.

TW: cultic, rape, trafficking, torture

I'm the daughter of a Satanist...

One trained to breed...

One pregnant at 6 years old...

One prostituted to whoever could afford her...

The girl her dad didn't want...

One men hired to have fun with...

One men experimented with...

One who was tortured for speaking up...

One trained for the sole purpose to please her buyer...

Regardless of age...

Still though...

One who never stayed silent...

One who broke free... twice...

One who rose up...

One who seeks to prove them wrong...

One who has been running for 15 years...

One who just needs to feel heard...

One who went through hell and survived...

That this Phoenix can rise...

She will not be burned...

She's proven that...

I have proven that...

I'm 35 and 90% of those I've been in prolonged abusive situations insufficient evidence for prosecution

A system that protects the abuser more than the survivor

And yet I still try

I don't try for me, I try for the ones after me, the ones like me, that they will see their justice

But for now I run...

From a dad that wants me silenced...

From the nightmares that plague my sleep...

From the memories that invade my mind...

From the choices made for me...

Didn't expect that to come out as poetic as it did

@rav3n

It finishes too late in the evening for me to really do anything after.

C is a trained counsellor but has no lived experience. He means well but most of the time he sucks at it.

Re: Running

@avant-garde that's fair, i'm glad you can chat it about here.

ahh i see, i think he means well too. i guess it really goes to show how powerful lived experience is and what a difference it can make when supporting others.

Last night really took it out of me though, when the reverend talked about persecution and how we're blessed to not know physical persecution... I just kept writing that he doesn't know what I've been through

And then he says to me today, he challenges me today to try and see people from church in a positive light, like they're not all out to hurt me

Re: Running

ohh that generalisation would've been hard to hear @avant-garde i know you mentioned he doesn't know your story, and pls forgive me i'm not too familiar with how people at church interact - but i'm curious to know, does the reverend know other church member's stories quite well, does he chat with them a lot? are you wanting to share your story with him at some point (when you feel comfy to)?

how do you feel about him asking you to "try and see people from church in a positive light"? it's an interesting request, do you reckon it would be helpful to give it a go?

This minister is only here until the end of August. We get our long term one in October. I can hold out.

C's suggestion has merit, but it is also something I have come a long way in and something I work on continuously, he's only known me for a little over a year and has made assumptions based on what he knows of me, but it always feels like I don't measure up in where he thinks I should be in my recovery

Left church

Started driving

Started screaming

I hate my allergies! I hate them! I hate them!

And I hate the reason why I have them!

Every time I can't take something or can't do something or have a reaction I'm reminded why! And I hate that!

Re: Running

Hey @avant-garde ,

Sounds like some big feels there. I've got allergies too. I cant' have a single day without antihistamines and meds...

Such is life?

I hope you find a way to practice some self-care in a way that is not allergy-provoking!

Re: Running

@tyme

No, mine are a lot more serious

If I ingest too much sulfur my body responds by rapidly taking my existing hydration levels to flush it out of my system, resulting in rapid dehydration that then results in a drop in blood pressure and renders me unconscious within as little as 10 minutes.

With medications, because of how they work, I can't risk it at all, but as a preservative in food it's less of a risk. Alcohol though you can't know the concentration.

It has devastating consequences for me.
