Talking through trauma and PTSD

Running

Running

"Behind every strong person is a story that gave them no choice"

My life is all about a lack of choice.

I'm alive because death would've outed him, it would have sealed his fate in prison.

TW: cultic, rape, trafficking, torture

I'm the daughter of a Satanist...

One trained to breed...

One pregnant at 6 years old...

One prostituted to whoever could afford her...

The girl her dad didn't want...

One men hired to have fun with...

One men experimented with...

One who was tortured for speaking up...

One trained for the sole purpose to please her buyer...

Regardless of age...

Still though...

One who never stayed silent...

One who broke free... twice...

One who rose up...

One who seeks to prove them wrong...

One who has been running for 15 years...

One who just needs to feel heard...

One who went through hell and survived...

That this Phoenix can rise...

She will not be burned...

She's proven that...

I have proven that...

I'm 35 and 90% of those I've been in prolonged abusive situations insufficient evidence for prosecution

A system that protects the abuser more than the survivor

And yet I still try

I don't try for me, I try for the ones after me, the ones like me, that they will see their justice

But for now I run...

From a dad that wants me silenced...

From the nightmares that plague my sleep...

From the memories that invade my mind...

From the choices made for me...

Didn't expect that to come out as poetic as it did

Re: Running

Hard when life's responsibilities tug on your needs hey @avant-garde - like your need for safe shelter means you gotta pack, but your need for emotional safety is telling you to hide. It's tough 🥺

Gradually getting through today's goal... the wardrobe...

Re: Running

@avant-garde nice! I dunno about you but packing always feels a little like an emotional mine-field... how was the process?

Re: Running

@Jynx

I've been doing it all week and yeah, emotional minefield is an appropriate term.

Not finished packing though

Re: Running

@avant-garde deadlines make it hard hey, no time to process THESE feelings, guess I'll pop em right on into the boxes...

How are you faring? Hope you're giving yourself plenty of breaks and finding some silly or wholesome along the way 🤞

Re: Running

@Jynx

I'm not faring that great... my case manager has been on leave the last week and that certainly hasn't helped

Re: Running

@avant-garde oh wow, that's a lot to be managing on lower support. If they were around, what do you think they'd be saying or doing to help?

Re: Running

@Jynx

She'd be hearing me and checking in and telling me how great I'm doing and how I'm not the only one who has gone through this and felt like this, but that we, together, would get through this

Re: Running

@avant-garde aww she sounds like a gem!

You're definitely not alone!! I can imagine it's a pretty common experience for those of us with complex trauma to find it challenging to engage in a process like this. Add in the complexities of how many challenges you've faced in your housing, and it's a humongous undertaking! To be tackling it on your own is a feat, for sure. I mean I'm there in spirit!! Much as I can be - with hugs a-plenty, if you want em 💜
