Talking through trauma and PTSD

Running

Running

"Behind every strong person is a story that gave them no choice"

My life is all about a lack of choice.

I'm alive because death would've outed him, it would have sealed his fate in prison.

TW: cultic, rape, trafficking, torture

I'm the daughter of a Satanist...

One trained to breed...

One pregnant at 6 years old...

One prostituted to whoever could afford her...

The girl her dad didn't want...

One men hired to have fun with...

One men experimented with...

One who was tortured for speaking up...

One trained for the sole purpose to please her buyer...

Regardless of age...

Still though...

One who never stayed silent...

One who broke free... twice...

One who rose up...

One who seeks to prove them wrong...

One who has been running for 15 years...

One who just needs to feel heard...

One who went through hell and survived...

That this Phoenix can rise...

She will not be burned...

She's proven that...

I have proven that...

I'm 35 and 90% of those I've been in prolonged abusive situations insufficient evidence for prosecution

A system that protects the abuser more than the survivor

And yet I still try

I don't try for me, I try for the ones after me, the ones like me, that they will see their justice

But for now I run...

From a dad that wants me silenced...

From the nightmares that plague my sleep...

From the memories that invade my mind...

From the choices made for me...

Didn't expect that to come out as poetic as it did

Re: Running

@avant-garde I can partially relate to the frequent moves - moved maybe 10 times in less than a decade when I got to VIC. And that was without homelessness in between. It taught me just how important it is to have a safe space to call home. So I can only begin to imagine how painful it has been for you. That lack of stability, no place that feels like your 'safe port in a storm', constant underlying worries about whether you're gonna be packing up all over again... it's a LOT, and it makes everything else harder.

I agree with @Appleblossom about the 'best revenge' being to live your best life. I know it can be hard to carve that out, and doubly hard to feel helpless in the face of injustice. I think even just by talking about it, you're already empowering yourself, and any others who read your story. Silence in the face of injustice is exactly what the perpetrators want. I truly admire your courage in refusing to let them silence you.

@Jynx @Appleblossom

Thank you and usually the advice would be welcome from you both but it's not what I needed today... I needed validation and someone to sit with me.

We already know I have a very full life and find joy in community... I have no trouble with that... I become empowered by proving people wrong and do that every day of my life...

I just needed to be allowed to feel and not alone in my pain...

Not so much the "you've got this" stuff...

Re: Running

@avant-garde totally valid hun, and I really appreciate that you communicate your needs with us here.

I absolutely want you to feel like you are allowed to feel your feelings. This space is all about that - a safe place for us to be not-ok.

We gotchu 💜

@Jynx

My case manager said to me last week that the first 6-12 months will likely be the hardest to acclimatise to because I won't have to move anymore, I won't have to be scared of being kicked out anymore...

Re: Running

I wasn’t sure what to say @avant-garde but sometimes being in a vacuum for too long can be worse than a clumsy response, especially if you know the person is trying. Sort of… allows for expression and clarification. Sorry if I upset you.

Re: Running

How are you going with your packing today? @avant-garde Kicking goals?

Also, how did you go last night after I clocked off? I know we were working on grounding exercises.

Re: Running

@tyme

Had usual washing routine first, today's goal is the wardrobe.

1 show = 1 shelf, starting with the next show

The grounding helped with the anxiety

But then the overwhelming emotional pain hit

Re: Running

Well done on what you have achieved and how you are pacing yourself to do what you need to. I hear that last night was challenging. I'm about to go and take the kiddos out, but will check in when I see you next.

Please take care hun @avant-garde

Sitting with you and taking this road with you.
