Welcome and getting started

Trying makes it worse

Trying makes it worse

Hi,

I'm EternalFlower and I've been feeling completely overwhelmed, sad, and pessimistic.

I've tried and been a responsible patient and person, reaching out to various services when I started feeling scarily anxious and suicidal, 2 years back..

My Dr is new, a young guy who regularly admits he's inexperienced, and aside from some good jokes, he actually does very little

I notice how easy it is to blame myself that I don't feel better, a total shame spiral, but I wander if my treatments just are bad....

I wanted to chat and hear anyone and hope I can use this space to help not feel so alone.

Thanks xxx EternalFlower

Re: Trying makes it worse

Good to see you pop up. @EternalFlower hope things are going reasonably.

Yes. The NDIS scheme is complex. Yes, it can meet some important needs. I was not for overly big government, but the fragmented nature of the system means that regulation and accountability are slow and difficult.

Last week a mother told me she had been shared a video of her son's support worker beating him up in public and a bystander put it online. Some of the abuse of the system is financial but it is broader than that. I was sad but not surprised to hear her story.

Re: Trying makes it worse

hi @Appleblossom how are you?

I'm sorry that happened to your friend's son. I am currently sitting on a mountain of inappropriate texts from an NDIS worker, and considering if I will bother reporting it. I hear they do nothing - it's not revenge I'm after - but I just wish there was some regulation.
I am disenchanted by the system.

I wander if your friend sharing the video led to protective action? Her poor son. Hoping for better news for ndis participants.
It all needs a major overhaul.

I'm between therapists and treatments but doing okay. House warm, nice garden, a bit of respite for the soul 🙂

@EternalFlower

Sending gentle hugs.

That lady with the autistic adult son who was beaten up by support worker was at the police station and trying to get them to take it seriously. The system is too big and unwieldy.

Good that you have warm home and enjoy the garden. Many benefits from being in nature. I need to plant some winter veggies soon.

I made it to my physio garden twice this week. I will tidy it up and it should be fine for many months.

I am in between therapists atm too. A lady booked in for first session on Friday, then cancelled due to ill health and said she would be back to me by now.... 3 days later. Hope it wasn't serious.

Re: Trying makes it worse

Hi @Appleblossom that is still distressing to be left without care

I have had the ambulance call today 😞

I called the CATT team and was referred to ambulance.
I've had contact with CATT almost every week. I am so disappointed in the trauma program I went to, and feel also SANE as well, sometimes the care isn't there

It is so difficult to live now with no Dr, no care team and I feel like i was left with no care by people who pushed me into treatments that weren't suitable for me.

Re: Trying makes it worse

Oh no @EternalFlower

I can only talk online with you…

Has the ambulance been and gone, or are they still around?

a fundamental concept in disability is… choice and control… how that plays out… is unclear to me…. In general… or for me personally.

Hoped when you were posting less, that your needs were being met.

how can I help?

Re: Trying makes it worse

Hey @EternalFlower it saddens me greatly that you are feeling uncared for here. We are always open to feedback if you wanted to pass on some of your thoughts about what you feel is missing.

Also having to deal with an ambo call today, no fun at all 😔

How are you travelling this evening?

Re: Trying makes it worse

hi @Jynx thanks for your offer to help. It is helpful to pass on feedback at times but for me personally it didn't assist my situation.

Thanks, I have convinced the Ambo team not to section me, so I am safe from that at least. My phone has died so I don't know if they will call me back, I'm too sad to go and check it

I feel for me in my situation, there is no hope. I always had hope before. It was my strongest asset. but now, i feel like i've tried all the options and i can't speak up and be heard wherever I go. So i have stopped speaking 😞

Re: Trying makes it worse

Hey @Appleblossom sorry i hope you know from my style i was not saying you were leaving me - I was saying for you it was distressing that the psychologist cancelled, even though you said hope she had a good reason. Truly wasn't accusing or anything like. Really sorry.

Re: Trying makes it worse

No way did I sense you were accusing. Didn’t cross my mind. @EternalFlower It’s the blooming system that I am wary of … and have been burnt by.

just wanted to reach out to you

Re: Trying makes it worse

Fair enough @EternalFlower whatever feels right for you 💜

That sounds like a relief for you hun, gladness. Are you meaning like, you're feeling so low that if you check your phone and see no callback, it might feel even worse?

I really hear you, that there was this fiery drive to speak up, to hold on to the hope that someone will listen, but it's hard to hold onto when you get disappointed again and again hey.

Not sure how much it means in the grand scheme of things, but I am always happy to listen, if there's anything you'd like to share 😊
