My at home mental health retreat

My at home mental health retreat

Today I started Day 1 of my at home mental health retreat. Seeing as though I can't afford to go to a private psychiatric hospital (or a relaxation retreat) I thought I would be my own private psychiatrist and design a mental health rehabilitation program of my own.

Thanks to @Powderfinger for inspiring me and @Former-Member for the encouragement 😊

Here are some of the goals I'm working towards...

Having a shower every day

Cleaning my teeth every day

Going to bed at 9.30pm

Watching one of Ediya's videos before I go to sleep

Getting out of bed at 7am

Meditating for 20 minutes

Doing my affirmations in the mirror

Eating healthy food

Drinking lots of water

Taking my vitamins and antidepressants

Taking my Pug for a walk

Going for long walks in nature

Going to Yoga

Riding my bike to the river and back every day (once I have it)

Review of today...

I had a shower (and washed my hair with my salon quality shampoo and conditioner).

I cleaned my teeth.

I can't say I ate healthy food because I didn't eat enough vegetables today.

I drank lots of water.

I took my vitamins.

I listened to my audio book "The Body Keeps the Score" by Bessel Van Der Kolk.

Re: My at home mental health retreat

Thank you @Powderfinger and @BPDSurvivor ❤

I went to the supermarket and did my shopping. I couldn't decide between making chicken and vegetable soup with soba noodles and ginger or a tuna, bean and rice salad with a basil vinaigrette for dinner. I got really overwhelmed at the supermarket and ended up buying things that won't make either. So I'm just going to have salted caramel ice creams and corn chips for dinner LOL.

I think I want chicken and vegetable soup with soba noodles and ginger after all that. I will have to go back tomorrow.

Salted caramel ice cream and chips sound good @Arizona , lol.

Moving forward, would writing a shopping list help kerb the feeling of being 'overwhelmed'?

I used to do that. Have it in my head exactly what I wanted, go in, get it, come straight out. Didn't look left. Didn't look right. It was just in and out.

Any other suggestions how you could do it differently next time? (Of course, if the ice cream and chips were good, there's no need to work towards doing it differently next time 😉)

Hi @BPDSurvivor

I did have a list but I got a bit thrown because they didn't have a lot of things I wanted. This has been happening a lot lately because of the lockdown. And then I can't decide what to make.

But it's okay. I will go back tomorrow and get the ingredients to make chicken and vegetable soup with soba noodles and ginger.

Thanks for sharing your journey @Arizona 🤗

You are doing an amazing job with your daily goal setting and routine of self care, even adapting when things don't go as planned. Eating salted caramel icecreams and corn chips for dinner 🤣

I hope you get some quality sleep overnight and awake feeling refreshed in the morning ready for another day. Take care, RedHorse🌹🐴

Re: My at home mental health retreat

I woke up at about 7am. I had my breakfast and took my vitamins. I woke up sweating, in a state of anxiety, with a fearful feeling in my throat like a lump in my throat or heartburn. I'm feeling very tired and I'm going back to sleep now.

My goals for today are...

Do my affirmation in the mirror.

Meditate for 20 minutes.

Listen to my audio book "The Body Keeps the Score".

Take my Pug for a walk.

Clean my Pug's ears.

Go to the supermarket and buy a red capsicum (and maybe some corn kernels. I'm not sure).

Make a tuna, bean and rice salad with a basil vinaigrette.

Take my vitamins and antidepressants.

Drink lots of water.

Have a shower (and wash my hair).

Clean my teeth.

Do another meditation before bed.

Go to bed at 9.30pm.

Watch one of Ediyas videos before I go to sleep.

I haven't had a shower or cleaned my teeth for two days. And I only drank 3 glasses of water. This isn't good.
