Welcome and getting started

Just holding on.

Just holding on.

Every time I have a necessary rest and fall asleep, I open my eyes again and the same despair sweeps over me and I'm again in a state of mute desperation. I'm again in despair, wondering how long I can keep going like this.

I feel that everybody who knows me can recognize the predicament I am in, and they are just waiting for me to reach my breaking point. Like predators, patiently waiting. Some are very nice but I feel it is just to lull me into a false sense of security. Misplaced trust. A feeling that if it feels good, it's too good to be true and won't have a good outcome. Like they just want to know my business so that they can hold it against me, like they want to get onto my rung and topple me. Get close and betray me. For their own revenge. Another scalp for their belts.

How I'd love to get to know them like I should be able to, to trust them, to relate, to have true friends who are not judgemental - but I can't. I am not judgemental towards them so why can it not be reciprocated? I've tried everything. I don't fit anywhere. Not for long.

It's not paranoia. It's just how my life turns out, time after time after time. There is a pattern to it and I just can't break it. I've tried, but it's like it's been pre-ordained and I want to know why.

I guess life really is dog-eat-dog. I wish I'd known that when I trusted that people had the same integrity as me. I didn't realize that people were so two-faced and untrustworthy. I didn't realize that parents, sibs, spouse, children, erstwhile 'friends', psychiatrist and doctors were all just using me for their own ends. For revenge for some wrong done them so long ago by someone else and they want me to pay for it. And they have all ruined my life and they are the only ones who have benefited from it. Why? Life shouldn't be a game of chance. I'm truly broken.

Hello @Historylover

I will read the thread that you have referred to, so that I have a better idea of what you have experienced and subsequently endured.

It is of great concern when a professional of any qualification leaves someone in a position of stress and vulnerability. I have a deep sense of disappointment for you because of that experience. I am certainly not qualified in any professional capacity, however, if by talking with me, we might be able to help each other, I would be very pleased.

I can understand your feelings better now that you have told me more about your situation. When such a relationship is built with an adviser, it is very difficult when that person withdraws their support without warning and appropriate preparation.

You are still able to convey your ideas, thoughts and sentiments. Because of that, I believe that there is still a foundation on which to gradually move forward. At the same time, I would suggest, as I did before, that if you agree, it might be an idea to try to keep thoughts, as far as possible, in the present. I would hope that might allow you to stabilise, as much as you can.

As long as you are happy to do so, I am pleased to be able to talk with you, about what is happening for you at any given time. I am logged into the forum most of the time, but I am at the computer morning and evening WAST. If you have “tagged” me, I will reply when I am back at the computer.

All I can do is talk with you. If that is helpful for you, I would be pleased.

Best Wishes

@HenryX

Re: Just holding on.

Hi,

Hope you are feeling better soon. Usually you know family at really there for you or if not, how they operate. True friends are few and far between...that's why the Buddha said first spend time with family then with friends and then just have one friend because time is short and it takes a life time to know someone. Not everyone will have the same integrity or care factor. Not these days. So save your energy for the ones who do care... There must be at least one or two. Take care.. .

Re: Just holding on.

@Swansong Only ones who care about me are here. I share the Buddha's sentiments you mentioned.

Thank you for responding @Swansong. It's heart warming to find inbox responses when we need them.

Take care and best wishes.

Re: Just holding on.

Hey @Historylover you can change your destiny by using a spiritual practice that will undo a lot of binding situations in your life.

It does not belong to any religion but to all faiths and creeds.

I use it every day. It will change the type of people who were once attracted to you and their agendas, it will wipe the slate clean.

Commit to 30 days of practice and see you and your situation start to emerge out of the gridlock you are in.

Theres lots of articles on the web about the benefits of it!

Hi @Former-Member

It's lovely that you've found a practice that sounds to really work for you and that you'd love to share it with others. Spiritual guidance can be such a powerful tool for many, but it also may not be the right option for all, and that's ok too.

It's important that we all feel we have the agency to find a path in healing that feels right for each of us individually

Re: Just holding on.

Hello there, @Former-Member. Thank you so much for thinking of me. I am so glad that you have found something which works for you. It doesn't sound like anything I could believe in - and that would be fundamental to its achieving progress for any individual.

I'm not being deliberately negative, @Former-Member, it's just that I have tried everything. Nothing works. I am exhausted from trying to find new paths which may provide a new and different outcome. I'm just out of ideas. I can never do the right thing no matter what I do - and doing the right thing, and keeping out of trouble and a low profile is always my goal. If I kept my mouth shut perhaps it may be helpful!

Thank you for your kind thoughts. I hope you are having a good day, my friend.

Re: Just holding on.

Just dropping by to say Hello, @HenryX. By the way, qualifications are not necessary to just caring about another in need of support. In fact, I find the coldness and distance of so-called 'professionals' very off putting and more than a little difficult for me to warm to them. One could conclude they actually knew what they were doing. I have found few who do although they bluff well. I'd like to go through the results of their work and assess it for myself, but really, I think their manner speaks volumes.

For me, I consider that they should be able to systematically aid in disentangling patients' lives and help them carry their burden along the way. It's not too difficult. It's what we do here and it is such a basic, natural human instinct. It gives us the strength to keep going, knowing someone actually cares. You don't lose objectivity by caring. I know it is stressful but that is what they are trained for and paid exceptionally well. They have resources, including family, friends and colleagues to support them. There has to be results for attendance for the people they treat.

Just saying Hello and thank you for caring. Take care.

Best wishes, Historylover.

Re: Just holding on.

@Former-Member yes this practice has changed my life. I was a bit reluctant to put it out there for the reasons you gave but thought it may have had appeal due to its universality in principle. Sometimes you need a solution that goes beyond the energy that created it which is why I mentioned it but recognise it may not be for everyone as you have so kindly said

Re: Just holding on.

Hello @Historylover I'm sorry you are facing so much frustration. Yes re: my suggestion - you must have faith in something for it to work!

I'm not offended but hope you can try and rectify your situation somehow.

I understand how hard it is being stuck in a rut and having to keep walking around eggshells to not upset other people.

You are doing the best you can allready having faced some very challenging and in-your-face life experiences.

How people can be so callous and cruel to you is beyond me.

But you are a survivor and you have lots of strength to keep facing life with bravery and determination.

You have been living this way for a while so today I think you were just having a bad day. Tommorrow you may feel a bit better, love
