Power of Positivity

Power of Positivity

Hey fellow forumites!

I decided to start a new thread on the power of positivity. I have found in the past I tend to have days where the negativity in my head is so loud I tend to lose sight of what I like about being me. So this is a space where we can all come and list those things we like/love about ourselves anytime we want.

So basically list 5 or more positive things about yourself that you feel today. It can be things you like/love about yourself, things you like/love that you can do, or things you've discovered about yourself, but it has to be positive and relevant to you today, in this moment. It's essentially an exercise in positivity and mindfulness. Be as descriptive as you want.

I'll start us off.

1. I love my body. It carries me everywhere and can do amazing things, like run, swim, ride a bike, lift weights, walk to amazing places, play guitar, sing.

2. I love my sense of humour. I can see the humour an irony in almost anything and I love that my sense of humour keeps me grounded.

3. I love my mental strength. I've waged so many wars in my head, but my mental strength always comes out on top, it's a true warrior.

4. I love that I can write poetry. It has become such an important part of my recovery and I really enjoy it.

5. I love my heart. I'm a big softie and love to make people feel good about themselves.

6. I love my smile. 🙂

Okay, so I am going to tag in some people and hope you can all share it with your friends too.

Thanks for being you! Big hugs! xx

Re: Power of Positivity

Hi @Cin your previous five positives sound wonderful - visit with your son and Winston and a beautiful view, hearing from your daughter-in-law, so good. I am enjoying reading your positives. Somehow I can hear the uplift in them.

Hope today treats you well, the same for @bipolarbunny @Oaktree and all here.

Re: Power of Positivity

Hi @Mazarita @Cin @ShiningStar @Oaktree @LostAngel @Shaz51 @Daisydreamer @Zoe7 @Anastasia and anyone else passing through xx

Hope you are all travelling okay and surviving the lockdown crazy, just praying we can return to some sort of normality soon, whatever that may be.

So I have had a mixed week. So I may struggle to find five positives today, but I'll give it a crack.

1. I learned a new song on guitar tonight and my playing is improving each day.
2. I started a new poem which I hope to finish later tonight.
3. I love that my brain has been relatively quiet and content today even though I'm tired.
4. I'm happy that I sold some camping gear to a friend and made $500 that went straight in the bank.
5. Right now I'm just loving feeling all cosy and cocooned in bed.

Yay I made it to 5.

Hope everyone has a nice peaceful evening. Big hugs xx

Re: Power of Positivity

Hi @bipolarbunny seems there can be more positives than we at first think even during rocky times. The daily gratitude notes I've been doing for 18 months now, have shown me very clearly there are no end to the blessings in my life, even 'peanut butter' (one of my past notes).

Yours are great: music and poetry, warm and comfy bed, calmer brain. I am feeling calmer in my nerves today as well, a huge relief that's happened a lot more lately than usual. I attribute it mainly to the breath, mindfulness and compassion work with my psychologist and small daily practices I've been doing with that.

Also I am feeling hugely calmer and the other good things arising from the bushwalks this year.

Today's 5 positives:

  • I am getting my first Pfizer dose in a couple of hours
  • Despite a severe and excrutiating reaction to a past flu vax, I am mostly calm about this one
  • This morning there were less dark self-voices greeting me on waking, less anxiety
  • My birthday is very soon
  • I am open to more positives arising as the day unfolds.

Hi @Cin hope there are good things in your day.

Re: Power of Positivity

@Mazarita Hi Maz, hope the jab went well. I had the Pfizer and didn't even feel it. First time arm was a bit stiff the next day, but no big issues. I'm glad you are finding the hiking and mindfulness helping with your anxiety, that's huge. Hope the rest of your day is going well xx

I have one positive for today. I'm thinking of, well actually I've decided I am, going to buy a Fender Stratocaster. It's my birthday soon too, so I'm going to spoil myself. I am looking at the Vintara 60's Olympic white, it's a gorgeous thing. They are a lot cheaper than I thought so rather than shell out $800 for some no name brand strat that I will want to upgrade at a later time, I figure pay the $1650 and get myself a genuine Fender strat right off the bat that I'll play for years to come.

@Cin hope your day is going well hon xx
