Power of Positivity

Power of Positivity

Hey fellow forumites!

I decided to start a new thread on the power of positivity. I have found in the past I tend to have days where the negativity in my head is so loud I tend to lose sight of what I like about being me. So this is a space where we can all come and list those things we like/love about ourselves anytime we want.

So basically list 5 or more positive things about yourself that you feel today. It can be things you like/love about yourself, things you like/love that you can do, or things you've discovered about yourself, but it has to be positive and relevant to you today, in this moment. It's essentially an exercise in positivity and mindfulness. Be as descriptive as you want.

I'll start us off.

1. I love my body. It carries me everywhere and can do amazing things, like run, swim, ride a bike, lift weights, walk to amazing places, play guitar, sing.

2. I love my sense of humour. I can see the humour an irony in almost anything and I love that my sense of humour keeps me grounded.

3. I love my mental strength. I've waged so many wars in my head, but my mental strength always comes out on top, it's a true warrior.

4. I love that I can write poetry. It has become such an important part of my recovery and I really enjoy it.

5. I love my heart. I'm a big softie and love to make people feel good about themselves.

6. I love my smile. 🙂

Okay, so I am going to tag in some people and hope you can all share it with your friends too.

Thanks for being you! Big hugs! xx

Re: Power of Positivity

Wow, what a great thread! Reading your list @bipolarbunny and the 120+ replies got me trying to think about myself positively which is no mean feat atm. Baby steps for me, but here goes:

(1) I got out of bed this morning, dressed and left the caravan

(2) I logged onto Sane Forums and actually created a post for once

(3) I resisted the urge to harm myself...

Re: Power of Positivity

Hello @RedHorse

Great that you @RedHorse, have found the forum posts to be inspirational and motivational. The efforts and experiences offered by many members are certainly a solid way of overcoming some of that inertia that we can often succumb to. Have to say that a lot of what @bipolarbunny and others offer is mentally stimulating, as well as inspiring and motivating.

I was impressed with your comment that you worked "to think about myself positively".

Each person knows the areas where they are most vulnerable and prone to slip. However, a read of the threads, posts and responses is often a great pick-me-up.

And, we all know about "baby steps." So easy to over-extend and fall backwards. If we gently measure and acknowledge our progress, we can accomplish a lot, in a relatively short space of time. All that, without adding too much pressure in the process.

Very pleased to know that you respected yourself today, instead of giving in to the negatives.

With My Very Best Wishes

@HenryX

Re: Power of Positivity

Todays Positives are one getting enough sleep, two eating and drinking regualary non alcohic drinks, cooked some dinner tonight instead of opting for takeaway being delivered, spent plenty of time resting and browsing online, got a load or so of washing done, the dishes are done, had a nice shower with fave nice smelling toiletries, thinking of ordering some new books to read or clothes shopping online, watched a variety of Olympics including the surfing,Mens Hockey and Kiacking genereally a quiet day ,lockdown ends tonight at midnight but masks still need to be worn indoors and outdoors outside home, kids go back to school tomorow instead of doing remote learning from home, definetly been watching a few movies and series during the 5th lockdown as well as cleaning and at times turned to alcohol partially cause of mental health and partially because of lockdown and sometimes the inability to sleep at night, although slept alot during the day and have regulary taken my anti depressent for about a week aand a bit, feeling well rested tonight and been snacking on sugary foods although now I seem to need some salty snacks,so glad that kids are going back to school tomorow, weather was sunny today although I didnt go outside at all,I definetly might order some books online to read in the coming week, also I have a morning appointment tomorow so hope I dont sleep in,Im thankfull to have had no issues with having enough food and essentials in the 5th lockdown, also bought a new couch and heater and Tv which worked out well just not happy that having fun has to be still trying to have fun at home and the fact we still cant see families, but seeing as though I still dont have a car to drive currently it kind of doesnt change things much for me pluss sadly Im speaking with alot of my family at the moment, just a few Im keeping in contact with so I more or less feel like a bit of a recluse since this 5th lockdown and even before then, and although we did get to go to the movies once during the school holidays it would have been nice to have gotten out of the house a bit more before the fith lockdown happend anyway sorry for the long post and sorry if in some ways it sems Im complaining about anything, although I have to say the really best news is that me and special someone are currently on very good terms with eachother so at least we are still able to see eachother wether theres lockdowns or no lockdowns, anyway thats enough venting but thanks for reading stay safe forum friends
