Power of Positivity

Power of Positivity

Hey fellow forumites!

I decided to start a new thread on the power of positivity. I have found in the past I tend to have days where the negativity in my head is so loud I tend to lose sight of what I like about being me. So this is a space where we can all come and list those things we like/love about ourselves anytime we want.

So basically list 5 or more positive things about yourself that you feel today. It can be things you like/love about yourself, things you like/love that you can do, or things you've discovered about yourself, but it has to be positive and relevant to you today, in this moment. It's essentially an exercise in positivity and mindfulness. Be as descriptive as you want.

I'll start us off.

1. I love my body. It carries me everywhere and can do amazing things, like run, swim, ride a bike, lift weights, walk to amazing places, play guitar, sing.

2. I love my sense of humour. I can see the humour an irony in almost anything and I love that my sense of humour keeps me grounded.

3. I love my mental strength. I've waged so many wars in my head, but my mental strength always comes out on top, it's a true warrior.

4. I love that I can write poetry. It has become such an important part of my recovery and I really enjoy it.

5. I love my heart. I'm a big softie and love to make people feel good about themselves.

6. I love my smile. 🙂

Okay, so I am going to tag in some people and hope you can all share it with your friends too.

Thanks for being you! Big hugs! xx

Re: Power of Positivity

Thanks @Cin @bipolarbunny, hi to anyone reading.

Well done for all the steps we are taking in our lives, no matter how big or small.

For me the small ones when most down have been powerful. One that oddly helped a lot when I felt almost paralysed with depression, was simply having a go of making my bed every day.

The bushwalk yesterday improved my mood out of sight compared to how depressed and anxious I'd felt three days previous. Still feeling it's benefits another day later.

5 positive things today:

  • did about 2 hours of NDIS admin, scheduling support, rescheduling, related stuff
  • felt less dark and irritable about it, more acceptance that its just an ongoing NDIS thing
  • made bed
  • listened to 2 meditation/hypnosis recordings by my psychologist
  • did some squats and stretching.

Hi @bipolarbunny

It’s so lovely to hear from you

In my experience, allowing ourselves to be vulnerable and share our inner most thoughts and feelings can take an enormous amount of much courage

Finding the courage to explore your gender with your Therapist is absolutely amazing!

Take kind and gentle care of yourself,

Hi @bipolarbunny

It’s so lovely to hear from you

Thank you so much for noticing that I changed my profile picture

This is something that I’ve been meaning to do for some time now - it just took me longer than I thought to find a little pink star that had a touch of glitter on it

Thank you so much again for taking the time to acknowledge and celebrate everyone’s wonderful achievements

Take care of yourself,

ShiningStar
