TW Anorexia. How do you conceptualise an eating disorder

Hope you’re doing well, 34M here trying to find out how other people think about anorexia. It seems like a common way to think about it is described in the book Life without Ed, where she thinks of the eating disorder as an abusive partner that’

Depersonalisation

Nothing feels real; My life does not feel authentic anymore. Everything is just a blur and my mind is fatiguing. My behavior is so aggressive. If my dad maybe even bothered to show a little love and patience, I think I would be much more stable than now.

Diagnosis is not as useful as you might think.

I find this very frustrating. My experience in life with mental health services is that I've been 'diagnosed' as a number of things, prescribed medication or therapy, and then... well, that's it. Over and over. The model is nuts.
