Life after hospital

Life after hospital

Hi @NikNik@CherryBomb @Decadian@Former-Member@Faith-and-Hope@Silenus and everyone else I have forgotten (i am sorry my memory is not good)

Life after hospital???

I really don't know. I was in hospital for 3 weeks and I did hibernate for the first 3 days sleeping most of that time. I had a change of meds which took a while to work out the strength. Then my BP was doing weird things and they changed those meds as well. I was totally exhausted and I don't know if I will ever get better.

I did eventually join in socially and do groups but unfortunately the groups triggered a lot of memories of my childhood abuse,, my mum and how she has treated me, so I used to walk out in tears. I seemed to be crying and sleeping quite a lot. Self harming was on my mind a lot and i was 'looked after' really well by the staff. Often they would pop in my room and just chat but at times all i wanted to do was cry and sleep.

My discharge yesterday was emotional, i didn't want to leave my safe place, my peace and quiet. I tried the night before something terrible and wrote a note to one of the night staff who sat down with me in my room and he told me I don't believe in myself enough that i am strong but i don't see it.

I saw so many people from all walks of life suffering in silence. I came home on the weekends and couldn't even look at the house as it was untidy or not how i would keep it. so after a bit of cleaning i decided no i wanted to go back to 'my safe home'.

Today i had to see my GP and was falling asleep, i told him i am not sure if it's the meds and he said i am still exhausted.

I just feel like crying. Having horrible nightmares at the hospital was so bad that i was too scared to close my eyes, but i had the best male night staff who sat with me and made me a hot milo and gave me some meds to calm down and go off to sleep.

I am so axious about work tomorrow, but i have no money, no sick leave and no annual leave. tried centrelink but they are useless as my hubby earns just over the threshold. so on top of finances and my health i feel i am still not the best.

I wasn't gooing to come on here so soon but i needed to talk to someone as i am home alone. the only good thing that kept me going was knitting.

God i wish i could jusst go away, need to stop these negative thoughts.

Anyway i just wanted to say hi, i am still here and i am sorry if i have forgotten someone's name - i think my exhuastion and meds are affecting my concentration and memory.

I really don't kow how i will cope tomorrow.

i am so scared and anxious.

You were all probably hoping for me to be jumping up and down with glee - if only.

ps. another thing we are signing papers to sell our home this week; that's one good thing i suppose, just the packing is overwhelming.

Sit tight @BlueBay .... you have done all you can in this moment so you're going to have to allow a bit of time for other people to do their bit ....

Have some tea while you are waiting and play some music cos you need something to do to keep a bit busy and distract you ....

Big hugs ....

Re: Life after hospital

@BlueBay. I like the CAT members advice to have someone with you when you take the extra meds. That's very sound advice. Make sure you explain to your family that they may need to monitor you for the first few days - within reason.
I recently changed my sleeping tablets - couldn't stand the side effects anymore. Started new meds on single tablet. No good - up til 4am or 6am. My psych recommended doubling ny dose. I explained to my son that I'm not sure how 'out' I would be. He was great. And I'm sleeping again. When I'm on sleeping tablets I don't have the vivid dreams. It purely gives my brain a chance to rest / sleep so that I can then cope during the day.
Maybe knitting and cleaning house or going for a walk during the day would be good. If the tablets are to help you rest, take them at night, when your hubby's home

Hi @utopia@Faith-and-Hope@Faith-and-Hope @Decadian

Yes in a way i do think i have left too soon from the hospital. But that's okay, I took the CAT team's advice about medication and I had to call them back today to let them know how I was. From feeling lightheaded and sick in the stomach my BP went up too. I did sleep quite a bit as well and so did Jersey on my bed.

I had a bit of a crying spell which Jersey just put her head up and looked at me (just making sure I was ok)

I am going to have an early night tonight as my energy has been zapped. i feel like i have been hit by a truck and i am sure it's the meds chaging. I will also take one sleeping tablet to help me sleep as suggested by the CAT team.

Let's hope I don't have any nighmares or hallucinations tonight. Both of these have been horrible.

Re: Life after hospital

Hi @BlueBay

You did a lot of hard work when you were in hospital - and it seems you really did - and I have no doubt the dreams and hallucinations are from your brain as it uses sleep to sort it all out now that you are at home

I have had some weird effects from medication - and yes - you need people around while all this is happening

Yes - perhaps you could have stayed in hospital a bit longer and if your medication is causing this kind of fright in you - then do what you have to do - eg - ring Life Line - as often as is helpful, get onto the CAT team - ring your medical team when you are able and of course - write about it here

People have been writing some fantastic stuff for you here - you are very much loved here - how great that is

Thinking of you -

Decadian

@BlueBay

I am also hoping your have a restful night - peaceful dreams - and wake up feeling a whole lot better

Also - I am so glad you have Jersey - I have a cat and she knows all my secrets - and loves it when I tell her a story - she is right there for me - not often in a hurry to be somewhere else - and a great deal of comfort - our furry kids are part of our lives

See you tomorrow

Re: Life after hospital

Hi everyone

I took my double dose of meds this morning and had to sleep this afternoon for 1 1/2 hours. So bad I know but I am so exhausted i can't do much at all.

I ended up calling the CAT team but they reassured me it's okay to take the double dose. I took another tablet last night to help me sleep and it did help but still a restless night.

I'm knitting my summer cotton scarf so that is helping. Housework - well nothing today, hubby did the washing and vac. I did manage a 10 min walk aroud the block with Jersey.

Not back at work now until Wednesday which is good.

Hope everyone is doing okay and you are having a nice day. Although the weather is pretty horrible, it is so cold down where we live.

Backing to knitting!!! Come back on later.

Re: Life after hospital

Forgot to mention - when i was explaining to the clinican of the CAT team he thinks that my exhaustion is NOT from my meds. Then why would I be so exhausted. My GP told me the other day that it is because i am still mentally exhausted. Could this be true? I don't know who to believe.

Re: Life after hospital

Thank you @Sylvester.
I'm starting to worry or over think - can my workplace force me to have extended leave so I get better?
A comment was mentioned today - why am I here? And I replied for finances and his comment was well maybe you need a few months off.
Shld I be worrying?
