Life after hospital

Life after hospital

Hi @NikNik@CherryBomb @Decadian@Former-Member@Faith-and-Hope@Silenus and everyone else I have forgotten (i am sorry my memory is not good)

Life after hospital???

I really don't know. I was in hospital for 3 weeks and I did hibernate for the first 3 days sleeping most of that time. I had a change of meds which took a while to work out the strength. Then my BP was doing weird things and they changed those meds as well. I was totally exhausted and I don't know if I will ever get better.

I did eventually join in socially and do groups but unfortunately the groups triggered a lot of memories of my childhood abuse,, my mum and how she has treated me, so I used to walk out in tears. I seemed to be crying and sleeping quite a lot. Self harming was on my mind a lot and i was 'looked after' really well by the staff. Often they would pop in my room and just chat but at times all i wanted to do was cry and sleep.

My discharge yesterday was emotional, i didn't want to leave my safe place, my peace and quiet. I tried the night before something terrible and wrote a note to one of the night staff who sat down with me in my room and he told me I don't believe in myself enough that i am strong but i don't see it.

I saw so many people from all walks of life suffering in silence. I came home on the weekends and couldn't even look at the house as it was untidy or not how i would keep it. so after a bit of cleaning i decided no i wanted to go back to 'my safe home'.

Today i had to see my GP and was falling asleep, i told him i am not sure if it's the meds and he said i am still exhausted.

I just feel like crying. Having horrible nightmares at the hospital was so bad that i was too scared to close my eyes, but i had the best male night staff who sat with me and made me a hot milo and gave me some meds to calm down and go off to sleep.

I am so axious about work tomorrow, but i have no money, no sick leave and no annual leave. tried centrelink but they are useless as my hubby earns just over the threshold. so on top of finances and my health i feel i am still not the best.

I wasn't gooing to come on here so soon but i needed to talk to someone as i am home alone. the only good thing that kept me going was knitting.

God i wish i could jusst go away, need to stop these negative thoughts.

Anyway i just wanted to say hi, i am still here and i am sorry if i have forgotten someone's name - i think my exhuastion and meds are affecting my concentration and memory.

I really don't kow how i will cope tomorrow.

i am so scared and anxious.

You were all probably hoping for me to be jumping up and down with glee - if only.

ps. another thing we are signing papers to sell our home this week; that's one good thing i suppose, just the packing is overwhelming.

Hi @BlueBay

I'm sorry I haven't been in touch - I had trouble getting into my mail and Face Book for about 24 hours - give or take - just one of those things

Reading all the suggestions people are giving each other - not just to you - but it's like passing around the ideas - and they are good - but I have a strong feeling you have said what you need to do and that's for you - better you and your husband - to get away for a few days

You need to

Until people have had inappropriate phonecalls at the wrong hours it is hard to really know how intrusive that is - it was my son who would ring in the middle of the night - and I guess the workers at the Juvenile Justice Centre were desperate for me to come and settle him down - but there are times when we have to put ourselves first - and for all our best intentions we can't be there for people at midnight -

I know my mother was overwhelmed with guilt when she put her mother into a nursing home - but the old lady was dying - and there was nothing else to do - I remember the circumstances well -

Maybe life is like a patchwork quilt at times - eg - an American Quilt - made from old clothing etc - with memories attached - and it all tells a story

And to me right now it seems that your story needs time for you and your husband to have some time alone to work things out with each other. You are saying you want to run away - but hey - let's plan it - so everyone is one the same page and knows what's happening

All the other things - what I do - play the piano, colour-in, write, play computer games, watch movies and read - of course my docos - these are wonderful - but then the sky is in danger of falling and none of these work anymore

So my suggestion is to take time out - your MIL will still be there when you are back - and so will your job and your children and your house and the bills etc etc etc - but it's spring

You have been through the wringer - and the washing machine - and whatever - really hard work - and you are still going through it all somehow

I haven't written much over a couple of days - but I have been thinking of you

@Faith-and-Hope. Fingers crossed she will get there. Her anxiety must be high at times like this. But yes - you do have to make sure you don't take on too much of her issues - you need to make sure your health is strong.
Nothing better than a good belly laugh. Just makes you feel great. Lifts your spirits.
I'm looking forward to seeing Bad Moms. Going with a group of gals. It's meant to be hilarious. And we could all do with more laughs in our lives.
I hope today is easier for D3. Fingers crossed - she will make it.
I hope your day goes smoother and that you get another chance to unwind and relax

Re: Life after hospital

Had a horrible dream of guns police and one of the abusers. Hate these dreams I'm having.
Work was ok today got so much done.
I'm really worried about my high BP. Tonight at Drs it was 168/102 with throbbing headache. I'm working tomorrow only until 12.30. Then rest most of the weekend.
How is everyone?

Re: Life after hospital

Hi @ sadgirl. Sounds like you are so focused when at work. That's great.
I have a cold and it's decided to move to my chest. Feel like my ribs are breaking with every cough.
I can't believe I'm going to say this - but I'm sick of being in bed and not doing anything. That's my whinge for the day. I've been due a whinge for a while.
I have to trust my boy to go and get me some library books tomorrow. I'm sure he'll try and throw in a horror - because I hate horror.
Your bp is causing you a lot of concern. You may need to speak to your gp next week about a possible change of meds. Or your therapist about more calming techniques.
What are your plans this weekend.

Hi @utopia @BlueBay 🌷💜

I've had a few technical hitches with the Sane site on my iPad tonight, so it's taken a bit longer to get through replies on the threads .... but getting there .... I expect it will be affecting others too and get corrected soon.

My D3 is getting through the hoops p, one at a time .... still sooo frustrating .... buts she's getting there. It feels like it's going to happen.

I hope you are feeling better soon @utopia .... that cold sounds really nasty .... have you got something to treat it with .... ? Take care of you ❣

@BlueBay .... did you pick up my reply on Friday Feast ? I'm thinking your neck muscles might be really tense with all this stress, and maybe perpetuating those headaches .... ?

I use Fisiocrem o tight neck muscles .... but a heat pack might help ... or those peppermint and lavender headache sticks with the roller tops ....

I hope you sleep well tonight. I'm sure the nightmares aren't helping ....

Big hugs 💗🌷💕

Re: Life after hospital

@Faith-and-Hope. It almost sounds like your D3 needs a mentor at school. I wonder if Headspace may help by taking her to school til she graduates from this class. I'm not sure if your D3 would like this - just a thought.
My bug will get better - more frustrated that I can't get out and about - as I've been trying to establish more of a routine. But one week off won't hurt. I'm sure I'll be fine by Monday.
I f the rain would stop I could get back to weeding my jungle of a garden.
Yes ive also had trouble accessing posts on the forum tonight. Always fun / frustrating.
Do you have any plans for the weekend? Or do your kids dictate what you can do? Re: their planned activities and the need for a lift

Re: Life after hospital

Thanks @utopia .... 😊

The school counsellor has been mentoring D3 quite closely ... but she has still had ongoing health issues .... it's a debilitating pattern of get on top of things - trip up with health issues - go down like a ton of bricks - wipe out for 3 to 7 days - pick up the pieces - run to try to catch up - trip up with health issues .... on about a fortnightly basis ....

She is just so over it all !

One week to go of academics, then another week of a TAFE Cert assignment (during school holidays), then it's a wrap with graduation events (fun part).

Soooo nearly there .... and she's starting to believe it can happen ....

D1 is getting married in a few weeks, so my weekends are going to prep around D3 assignments and supporting WH's regimen .... and yeah .... dropping S2 sometimes in there ..... and I'm a full-time carer for my D2 ....

Its full on, but I do find time for me too ... spending a good amount of that on the forums .... cos it's helping to hold me up ....

Re: Life after hospital

You have an extremely busy life @Faith-and-Hope. I'm glad you make time for yourself too.
Gosh a wedding to plan. That sounds like fun and a headache all rolled into one. But only a few more weeks and you'll get a bit more -you time. Or less things to worry about.
I think you sound like a brilliant mum. Your kids are growing up. D3 sounds like she's going to make it with her studies.
I hope the weekend goes well for you.

Re: Life after hospital

Thanks so much @utopia 😊

D3 expressed that thought before she headed off to bed .... that she is starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel .... and believe she can make it ....

I have already dozed off .... better go to bed for real this time ....

G'night .... 💕💤

Hope you feel like you're on the mend tomorrow ....

💗💕

Re: Life after hospital

Hi @BlueBay

Those dreams are horrible - recurring dreams show there is deep unresolved issues - and no wonder - with the abusers - I wonder if we can really ever overcome that kind of nightmare.

I re-wrote the end of my recurring nightmare a long time ago - I was in a private psyche clinic at the time and the psyschiatrist suggested I re-write the end of the nightmare - that very day - right after my session with him - and he also told the nurses that I might scream during the night -

So I did - and in time learned to wake myself up before the end of the nightmare - maybe you could talk this over with your therapist - a different subject anyway - it might be like a change of environment

Have you had the chance to talk about taking a few days away with your husband so both of you can recharge your batteries - you could go from Friday night and return Sunday night and you don't have to go far - I have a strong feeling that you need this - because you want to run away -

You are in my thoughts
