Life after hospital

Life after hospital

Hi @NikNik@CherryBomb @Decadian@Former-Member@Faith-and-Hope@Silenus and everyone else I have forgotten (i am sorry my memory is not good)

Life after hospital???

I really don't know. I was in hospital for 3 weeks and I did hibernate for the first 3 days sleeping most of that time. I had a change of meds which took a while to work out the strength. Then my BP was doing weird things and they changed those meds as well. I was totally exhausted and I don't know if I will ever get better.

I did eventually join in socially and do groups but unfortunately the groups triggered a lot of memories of my childhood abuse,, my mum and how she has treated me, so I used to walk out in tears. I seemed to be crying and sleeping quite a lot. Self harming was on my mind a lot and i was 'looked after' really well by the staff. Often they would pop in my room and just chat but at times all i wanted to do was cry and sleep.

My discharge yesterday was emotional, i didn't want to leave my safe place, my peace and quiet. I tried the night before something terrible and wrote a note to one of the night staff who sat down with me in my room and he told me I don't believe in myself enough that i am strong but i don't see it.

I saw so many people from all walks of life suffering in silence. I came home on the weekends and couldn't even look at the house as it was untidy or not how i would keep it. so after a bit of cleaning i decided no i wanted to go back to 'my safe home'.

Today i had to see my GP and was falling asleep, i told him i am not sure if it's the meds and he said i am still exhausted.

I just feel like crying. Having horrible nightmares at the hospital was so bad that i was too scared to close my eyes, but i had the best male night staff who sat with me and made me a hot milo and gave me some meds to calm down and go off to sleep.

I am so axious about work tomorrow, but i have no money, no sick leave and no annual leave. tried centrelink but they are useless as my hubby earns just over the threshold. so on top of finances and my health i feel i am still not the best.

I wasn't gooing to come on here so soon but i needed to talk to someone as i am home alone. the only good thing that kept me going was knitting.

God i wish i could jusst go away, need to stop these negative thoughts.

Anyway i just wanted to say hi, i am still here and i am sorry if i have forgotten someone's name - i think my exhuastion and meds are affecting my concentration and memory.

I really don't kow how i will cope tomorrow.

i am so scared and anxious.

You were all probably hoping for me to be jumping up and down with glee - if only.

ps. another thing we are signing papers to sell our home this week; that's one good thing i suppose, just the packing is overwhelming.

I just did a 1 1/2 hour walk up and down hills on a national park. one side of the park was the beautiful calm bay and the other side was the rough ocean. amazing. i power walked through my anger on my own and then had the vision of the beautiful baby which felt so nice.

it was about 7,000 steps and about 6km!!!! I didn't want to go but did in the end. My family came and it was my son's idea. he really pushes me to the limit. everyone was casually except for me and him we were power walking and trying to keep up with each other. yes i am a bit competitive. lol

Re: Life after hospital

@BlueBay. You really are amazing! Well done. I'm lucky if I could do a half hour walk on the flats.
How supportive is your family and the moment. They are great. But your son - he's worth bottling. He has obviously been raised well by you. What a motivation.
Am very impressed with what you have achieved. And keep remembering the feelings that baby dream invoked.

Re: Life after hospital

Hi guys

I'm feeling okay tonight except for my legs and back. i have a feeling i will be quite sore tomorrow

Cooking dinner, hubby is helping.

I need some advice, I want to try to contact one of my aunties. Two years ago when my grandma passed away I met all my aunties and uncles again after about 20 yrs of not seeing any of them. But one of my aunties said to me "you know I never forgot about you and your family, you were always in my thoughts". We cried and hugged. she told me she would like to stay in touch with my mum and us but my mum will never contact her siblings. and now i have lost her number.

She gave me her phone number but i have lost it. I know that she had worked at a police station as an admin officer for quite a long time, and the station is not far from where I live. Her husband is a current detective/undercover police officer and works at the same station. Trouble is i can't remember her surname when she married.

Does anyone have suggestions of how I could possibly find them. I want to contact her to reconnect and tell her about her brother (one of the abusers) and what happened. do you think if i went to the police station they would be able to help or if they knew him they could possibly give him my number for my aunty.

Re: Life after hospital

I'm sure they'll do their best to help you at the station @BlueBay. They will require ID from you and your maiden name. Make sure you mention your aunt works or worked in admin before you mention that your uncle is a police officer. With all the terrorism stuff the police have to be very careful.

@Kurra

oh yeah i never thought about the terrorism and that they may not help. But i will give it a go. I'll let you know how I go.

Hi @BlueBay

If your auntie gave you her phone number I am sure she will be glad to hear from you - and that would be wonderful

Since 9/11 things have changed a lot - security is very tight now - so you will need documents to prove who you are - eg - your original birth certificate or extract of entry, your marriage certificate, passport or photographic equivalent (drivers' licence or Keypass) - anything at all to prove you are who you say you are. If you have your documents stored in a bank deed package and you have photocopies they could be just as useful

Personally - unless it would help your aunt in some way - I would wait and see the way the wind blows before you mention any thing about the abuse you suffered. I know you suffered terribly - and it has left you wounded - and I really understand this - but if you want contact with your aunt - then wait and see what happens.

I tried to tell a family member what my mother did to me (violent physical abuse) when I was an young child - it did not go down well and for a time we did not get along very easily - I am surprised at times how people would rather believe a lie rather than the truth - it may be your aunt does know something - but give it time.

It is certainly worth looking her up - and it can't do any harm

I bet you will be sore tomorrow - but good on you for that walk - what a walk - I guess you went down the Peninsula - how I would like to go down there again - and walk that far

I hope tomorrow is a good day for you and that you have success in finding your aunt

Something else to think about - there is a TV programme coming up where they are trying to put people who have lost contact with each other back together again. I will watch for the ad again and let you know - it may be too late for this series but if it works you can try again if your search is not getting anywhere

All the best with that

Hi @BlueBay

Black and white thinking - ho hum - maybe it's better than 50 shades of grey - I don't know

But to me your psyche contradicted himself because NEVER is a BLACK AND WHITE WORD

Never is a final word - I remember learning this at primary school - then I realised there were a lot of words in that group - well - it took years - but UNIQUE is one of them and your situation in the world is unique

It may be that you will never speak to your father again - but this is his choice for now - my father did want to talk to me - but after he died the family went back to the old ways and I never had that same chance with my mother - so I do understand - and maybe the world seems to be black and white because never is a black and white word

So although you think your sessions was not a good one - yeah - if you got mad at your psyche and he said it was a good session - then maybe it was - after all - your psyche is in the profession because he chose to be and he's used to it

Remember that baby - your future is in that dream - there is one thing that is immutable and that is the past - nothing can change it - ever

But the future - wow - that can be anything
