Life after hospital

Life after hospital

Hi @NikNik@CherryBomb @Decadian@Former-Member@Faith-and-Hope@Silenus and everyone else I have forgotten (i am sorry my memory is not good)

Life after hospital???

I really don't know. I was in hospital for 3 weeks and I did hibernate for the first 3 days sleeping most of that time. I had a change of meds which took a while to work out the strength. Then my BP was doing weird things and they changed those meds as well. I was totally exhausted and I don't know if I will ever get better.

I did eventually join in socially and do groups but unfortunately the groups triggered a lot of memories of my childhood abuse,, my mum and how she has treated me, so I used to walk out in tears. I seemed to be crying and sleeping quite a lot. Self harming was on my mind a lot and i was 'looked after' really well by the staff. Often they would pop in my room and just chat but at times all i wanted to do was cry and sleep.

My discharge yesterday was emotional, i didn't want to leave my safe place, my peace and quiet. I tried the night before something terrible and wrote a note to one of the night staff who sat down with me in my room and he told me I don't believe in myself enough that i am strong but i don't see it.

I saw so many people from all walks of life suffering in silence. I came home on the weekends and couldn't even look at the house as it was untidy or not how i would keep it. so after a bit of cleaning i decided no i wanted to go back to 'my safe home'.

Today i had to see my GP and was falling asleep, i told him i am not sure if it's the meds and he said i am still exhausted.

I just feel like crying. Having horrible nightmares at the hospital was so bad that i was too scared to close my eyes, but i had the best male night staff who sat with me and made me a hot milo and gave me some meds to calm down and go off to sleep.

I am so axious about work tomorrow, but i have no money, no sick leave and no annual leave. tried centrelink but they are useless as my hubby earns just over the threshold. so on top of finances and my health i feel i am still not the best.

I wasn't gooing to come on here so soon but i needed to talk to someone as i am home alone. the only good thing that kept me going was knitting.

God i wish i could jusst go away, need to stop these negative thoughts.

Anyway i just wanted to say hi, i am still here and i am sorry if i have forgotten someone's name - i think my exhuastion and meds are affecting my concentration and memory.

I really don't kow how i will cope tomorrow.

i am so scared and anxious.

You were all probably hoping for me to be jumping up and down with glee - if only.

ps. another thing we are signing papers to sell our home this week; that's one good thing i suppose, just the packing is overwhelming.

Hi @Decadian@Faith-and-Hope

I'm just so tired, i am not feeling very positive tonight. i have noticed that i am in not a good frame of mind. think i will go to bed soon and hide away.

i feel that i need to express my anger but i can't or don't know how apart from self destruction. so maybe bed is good for me right now.

i know i have you guys on here, thank you for being here for me.

Hi @BlueBay
Totally understand that you want some rest. I hope you sleep well.

I think you raised a really interesting point just then - you said you don't know how to express you anger. Anger is such an overpowering emotion - which needs a healthy outlet.
I know you're about to head to bed, so it's not a question for now, but just wondering if you have worked on this in any of your outpatient sessions (eg: in art therapy etc).

Have a good sleep. I hope to 'see' you tomorrow night.

@BlueBay

If I post a recipe for adult play-dough, will you make some for yourself ?

I made some earlier in the year with my D1, and it is quite lovely to have around .... there is something about how wonderful it smells .... And it has texture in it ... and just squeezing it and molding it in your hands, even rolling it into little balls and filling a tea-cup with them is a way of calming down up your nerves ....

If I could, I would make some and bring it over to you, so the next best thing would be if you will do it for yourself ....

Re: Life after hospital

I understand @BlueBay

Take it easy tonight - and there is not need to have positive feeling 100% of the time

Go to bed and sleep - we can all chat tomorrow - something to think about then

Night

Re: Life after hospital

Good night @BlueBay .... 💤💕

Talk to you tomorrow .... 🌷💜

Here is the Calming Lavender Play Dough recipe for anyone who wants to give it a try .... I like to add in rose oil and rose petals .... but that's just me .... and I am sure it would work just as well with peppermint oil and dried oeppermint leaves ....

Ingredients:
* 2 cups of flour
* 4 tablespoons of cream of tartar
* 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
* 1 cup of salt
* 2 cups of boiling water
* few drops of lavender oil
* few drops of rose oil
* dried lavender petals
* dried rose petals

Method:
* Mix together the flour, cream of tartar and salt in a bowl.
* Add the oil and water and keep stirring until it all comes together.
* Leave it in the bowl to cool and don’t worry if it looks a little gooey at this stage.
* Once cool enough add to a dry surface and knead knead knead! This is the most important part and helps to get rid of all the stickiness.
* Store in a airtight container or ziplock bag and it lasts for months. Keep somewhere cool, ours is usually in the fridge

@NikNik

I didn't work much on my anger. I did try art therapy but walked out twice because i was too emotional. Feeling the fear of being judged because i couldn't do what others could do; i felt like a hopeless child not even able to draw a simple picture.

I am having a session with my regular therapist tomorrow morning and i will bring it up with him. just hope he can help me.

it is hard to work on anger, i think it is a fear of something. I have been starting to hit the panic button with work, far too much to do before xmas. and our store is being audted again in october, which when it was done in may i ended up breaking down and going into hospital because of exhaustion and then change of meds. i was so emotional; i am already worried that if i don't [plan these next few months in advance i will be sick again.

i am delegating but i always take everything to heart; all the responsibility of the store i think and worry about because it is a reflectiion on me as the one who is in charge of the younger staff. and i do want the store to be perfect for the audit. gosh i am panicking already, need to stop and breathe.

Channeling anger and fear into a more constructive outlet may be helpful. We all use different strategies to manage fear and anger.

Different strategies work for different people. Talking to your therapist is a great idea. There might be some helpful content online about strategies too. It's all about trying the different strategies and seeing if they work for you.

Here are some resources that could start the ball rolling -

I don't think thinking about work right now is helpful for you. I totally understand how much work can fill up the brain and just swirl around and around causing anxiety and exhaustion. Thinking about work right now isn't going to make things any better - it's a hard switch to turn off though.

I hope you have some strategies to help you rest tonight.

Re: Life after hospital

@BlueBay. An audit was one of my huge stressors before my final break down.
Please let your boss / supervisor know when things are too much for you. I also have a strong work ethic like you - but in the end - it almost killed me.
My psychologist and I are currently working on judgments and expectations in the workplace. Sounds like we are traveling the same path at the moment.
Remember, you are not responsible for all at your workplace. The owner is. You can only do what you can & no more. Don't over do it.
And remember - you are doing great. Step by step.
My next appointment is next Thursday. Maybe we can compare notes.
