Life after hospital

Life after hospital

Hi @NikNik@CherryBomb @Decadian@Former-Member@Faith-and-Hope@Silenus and everyone else I have forgotten (i am sorry my memory is not good)

Life after hospital???

I really don't know. I was in hospital for 3 weeks and I did hibernate for the first 3 days sleeping most of that time. I had a change of meds which took a while to work out the strength. Then my BP was doing weird things and they changed those meds as well. I was totally exhausted and I don't know if I will ever get better.

I did eventually join in socially and do groups but unfortunately the groups triggered a lot of memories of my childhood abuse,, my mum and how she has treated me, so I used to walk out in tears. I seemed to be crying and sleeping quite a lot. Self harming was on my mind a lot and i was 'looked after' really well by the staff. Often they would pop in my room and just chat but at times all i wanted to do was cry and sleep.

My discharge yesterday was emotional, i didn't want to leave my safe place, my peace and quiet. I tried the night before something terrible and wrote a note to one of the night staff who sat down with me in my room and he told me I don't believe in myself enough that i am strong but i don't see it.

I saw so many people from all walks of life suffering in silence. I came home on the weekends and couldn't even look at the house as it was untidy or not how i would keep it. so after a bit of cleaning i decided no i wanted to go back to 'my safe home'.

Today i had to see my GP and was falling asleep, i told him i am not sure if it's the meds and he said i am still exhausted.

I just feel like crying. Having horrible nightmares at the hospital was so bad that i was too scared to close my eyes, but i had the best male night staff who sat with me and made me a hot milo and gave me some meds to calm down and go off to sleep.

I am so axious about work tomorrow, but i have no money, no sick leave and no annual leave. tried centrelink but they are useless as my hubby earns just over the threshold. so on top of finances and my health i feel i am still not the best.

I wasn't gooing to come on here so soon but i needed to talk to someone as i am home alone. the only good thing that kept me going was knitting.

God i wish i could jusst go away, need to stop these negative thoughts.

Anyway i just wanted to say hi, i am still here and i am sorry if i have forgotten someone's name - i think my exhuastion and meds are affecting my concentration and memory.

I really don't kow how i will cope tomorrow.

i am so scared and anxious.

You were all probably hoping for me to be jumping up and down with glee - if only.

ps. another thing we are signing papers to sell our home this week; that's one good thing i suppose, just the packing is overwhelming.

Re: Life after hospital

@BlueBay. I'm glad you made a breakthrough with your psychiatrist - even though it's painful. You are getting to understand yourself more. You may not have all the answers yet, but you are definitely heading towards healing.
I don't have BPD, but sometimes when times get tough for me - especially financially & the strains of single parenthood - I have often wished that I could be physically sick so I could go to hospital and be looked after and ignore my financial crisis.
But life doesn't work that way. It may have been a great coping technique when you were younger, but it's no longer serving a purpose.
By going through these painful breakthrough moments, you will start to move on towards the next issue. Again there may be pain, but you will get through that one too. Until there are no further issues to work on.
You have already started the journey. You are already making progress.
Keep at it.

Re: Life after hospital

I understand what you're saying @Decadian
But I'm scared and I don't know what I'm scared of. I'll keep going and hoping my psych will help me. I don't feel normal even though I think I am. It's a thought.
Hope you're ok today. Xxxooo

Re: Life after hospital

Hi @BlueBay

Ah yes - it's normal and healthy to be scared about what is to come - we have to hand so much over to other people - eg - your psyche - and the nurses who cared when you were in hospital - and then telling us the scary part of your private thoughts - that is incredibly brave btw

I was thinking about the meaning between "positive thinking" and "thinking positive" - this was after I went to bed and I thought - that's a bit obscure

So - this is better - "Positive Thinking" can become a good habit - and I am sure your psyche will help you with that - it means going through all your "stuff" and working out what works and what does not - etc - what is forward looking and what is no longer appropriate or helpful - and this is hard work - but fear not - it is also your way through and out

"Thinking positive" is a thoughtless comment - a throw-away people drop on you are a cure all - I have head it from people younger than myself who have not heard my story and will not and imagine for some reason that being positive in a way without help, without consideration, without thoughtful change - can change a disaster. [Private screech - it is not even good grammar]

Fear is natural - it can and does protect us - it stops us from being careless on the road, it helped us care for our children when they were young - we mothers had to sort through all the stuff around the baby and work out what was best for us - all the advice - the maternal nurse was a dragon when I had babies - our fear teaches us to find the truth among the clutter of thoughtless comments

Actually - your expression of your fear tells most of us that you are moving forward - if you were stuck you would not be afraid of the future - you would be afraid of the present

I think you are on a forward journey to a much better life - able to appreciate your husband and kids more - and to plan the new home you will have - to enjoy your life -

Re: Life after hospital

@BlueBay. Therapy is painful but it does get easier, I promise.
This is a hard time for you. So remember to treat yourself gently.
Keep in mind the old saying - This too will pass.

HI @BlueBay
I'm so sorry to hear you're not doing so well tonight.
If things are escalating, it's so important to connect with Lifeline or Suicide Call Back.

We're around tonight if you need us. We can talk about random stuff or if you want to share with us what's going on - we're here to listen.

Re: Life after hospital

Breathe through it @BlueBay .... you're caught in an undertow for the moment, but you know these ,moments pass .... remeber all your mindfulness exercises ....

Go and get a piece of ice and hold it in your hand till it melts .... feel how cold it is ....

Name ten things in the room around you ....

Find three things that are your favourite colour ...

Ask Jersey to go for a walk with you, or at least sit by her and stroke her in a way she likes ....

Pick up your knitting and do ten rows ....

Make yourself a cup of tea ....

Turn the radio or TV on ....

Vacuum the lounge room ....

Breathe .....

💜🌷 .....

What's happening @BlueBay

This doesn't sound good -

as @NikNik has suggested - you can ring LIfe Line - or Suicide Call Back - I have never tried Suicide Call Back but I am an off-and-on Life-Line caller - sometimes I have the number on speed-dial - I understand

I just remember you thought getting onto Life Line on-line didn't work well for you - ah - try calling them - and don't leave it too late - this is usually a good time of day

We all care about your here - you have some very good friends

Re: Life after hospital

Hi @NikNik

I feel tired of seeing therapists, psychs, changing meds, talking, crying, talking more and crying more.

I have been having terrible nightmares lately even hallucination one night. I am stressing b ecause of work, our store is being audited again in October. Last time we were audited (May) that's when I crashed and then ended up in hospital. I just want to go away, i want to go back to hospital.

so much to do at work I started panicking again because i know how much work has to be done to be audited. I've had enough, how much more do i need to go through.

And what makes me angry are the guys that abused me are living their lives. Damn it, i wish i could hurt those guys.

need to stop thinking about my delusional thoughts,
