Moving forward

Moving forward

As Monday looms I have been trying to work out how to move forward. Today I started collecting things for my coping box (thanks @Crazy_Bug_Lady). I bought some of my fave chocolates to put in and have been gathering bits and pieces. Happy for any other suggestions as to what to put in. I think I may need one for the car too. I'm thinking I may copy some pieces of wisdom from this forum and print them up to add in.

I'm hoping that I get to write more on this thread than the struggle thread as time goes by. Please feel free to add how you are moving forward as well. 💜😊

Re: Moving forward

Thanks @Faith-and-Hope, you know I think it's actually been a bit of a relief to say I'm not doing that great and going with it instead of acting crazy and madly trying to fix it. definately need to work harder on finding better strategies after this breakdown to even out a bit. 💜😊

Re: Moving forward

Thinking of you @Former-Member 💕
For me the difference between an initial reaction is that I acknowledge the reaction, consider the validity of my reaction (have I over reacted / how can I modify my reaction ^ how can I make it a positive for me etc). I guess it's about analysing it all but first I need to acknowledge and validate my reaction
This way I can calmly (most times anyway) find a productive way forward. 💕🎶

@Former-Member

I like @Faith-and-Hope 's analogy with driving.

and @Kurra about inital reactions ... and think about it.

Being on automatic pilot and having a reflective self.

having a self one and self two

Its just that after a while we do get used to seeing ourselves go through dimilar patterns of thinking and feeling .. and develop a sense of repetition or the cyclical nature of emotions and seasons of being ...

I know I can get wound up in an angry thought about something and know full well that I wont follow that thought through ..

I dont know why I torture myself .. cos I have a very strong superego .. or parent inside me ... maybe thats why ... my unconscious dreams up something sufficiently shocking to make my "parent" react and get all worried...

my son does it to me all the time ... I can see that .. it took longer to see it in me

It is only very recently that I have been able to laugh at myself .. and at first those moments were few and far between ...

but really ... it will be YOU and your view of YOU.. cos its a unique journey for all of us.

Once we have a sense of self-reflectiveness ... without putdown or harsh judgement ...just calm observation ... then it seems to be easier to reign in out of control emotions ...

Re: Moving forward

Hi @Former-Member, how you going tonight? Do you think you'll sleep? Probably exhausted like me. I got a lot of energy out mowing the lawn & putting things away for the rain. No contact with humans today, and you guys seem snowed under too. Watched that movie today "the theory of everything" re Steven Hawkins. Amazing what he has endured with a failing body. Hope you are OK.??
Hi @Appleblossom, @Faith-and-Hope, @Kurra,

Re: Moving forward

Hi @Former-Member I only managed 10 mins in garden ... before rain and picked up my boy from busking ...planted a new little carpet rose called Appleblossom near my bedroom window. So I will have a tangible token reminding me of my whole experience here on the forum.

You got heaps more done than me ... I avoid the lawnmower .. no lawn!

@Faith-and-Hope so glad that D3 got her tick. YOU get a tick too. It is a bit like me with my S1. I just keep walking with him, then he is productive. Even if he is grumpy to me about it. He just needs to keep putting some runs on the board.

Hi @Former-Member Hope tomorrow is better ... your changing emotions are probably part of your artistic streak ... so an inherent part of who you are.

Wow, an @Appleblossom rose, never heard of it, is it red? Kinda cool that you have that something real to remind you of all of us & the progress you've made here.

I'm concerned for @Former-Member, hope she's OK, I haven't been very attentive here of late, somewhat distracted & exhausted, feeling guilty I don't give more.

Did a quick dash grocery shop tonight. Most my fav buys were discounted so stocked up on heaps. Be right now for a while.

Raining here too. How lucky are you not having any lawn
😊. 💜 🌷. 🌸.
