As Monday looms I have been trying to work out how to move forward. Today I started collecting things for my coping box (thanks @Crazy_Bug_Lady). I bought some of my fave chocolates to put in and have been gathering bits and pieces. Happy for any other suggestions as to what to put in. I think I may need one for the car too. I'm thinking I may copy some pieces of wisdom from this forum and print them up to add in.
I'm hoping that I get to write more on this thread than the struggle thread as time goes by. Please feel free to add how you are moving forward as well. 💜😊
Btw @Former-Member .... I come from a family of teachers too ....
Your S4 has been part of your troubled times, but he will be part of your healing journey too .... it will give him empathy and strength he would not have gained otherwise .... don't take the teacher-talk too much to heart ....
💜🌷

Re: Moving forward
Hey all, sorry had to race out door to drop S1, S2 off It's a fair drive.@TAB, @Former-Member, @Faith-and-Hope. I stopped by shopping mall to get father's day chocolates, I had not been in a long time. S3 & shops do not mix! It dawned on me how much time I'm committed to being mum. Young kids these days don't know how lucky they have it. I think I'm blown away at the expectations the next gen have.. It's in how you parent that establishes base. I think what's most important to me is that my son's know their own identity. Be thinkers, not followers. 😊
Well I've lost my train of thoughts, but breen sounds interesting. I think I've heard of her elsewhere. Maybe someone told me. Who knows, I'm forgetful. Highly possible. Many places, many things to look into all whilst getting lost along the way! I saw a sticker on this guy's car, 'Such is Life' Yup. In a nutshell. Another day, another challenge really?!!! 😊

Re: Moving forward
Hey @Former-Member and @Appleblossom
There is so much wonderful stuff been written on this thread about our integrity and boundaries - I feel I have to comment on just that much
We have to define our boundaries to ourselves - no one else except the people here care that much - but could we start another thread - eg
Defining our Integrity
It seems to me that our integrity is basic to us - what we have taken into our lives and fitted for ourselves - what works for us - what does not
That was a wonderful comment @Former-Member
I have certainly taken that one on board

Re: Moving forward
I think my biggest issue was shame and NOT being aware of it.
I remember being puzzled and surprised in the 1990s when reading my daughters' school reports and they often had a category about "taking pride" in one's work. They were fine and showed enough of the right kind of pride ...
I dont know if it was just education double talk .. but it really struck me that the education dept was putting it in kids' reports ... the assumption that it was RIGHT to feel pride ...
Maybe way off topic ... but I thought of it as the reverse side of shame.

Re: Moving forward
@Apple blossom....'too proud to see our shame' is the line that comes to mind... How very true. Being too proud is far more ignorant, than to feel shame. Most insightful. I do remember such comments on some of my reports. With following reports to differ, 'seems to be distracted easily!' Makes you wonder did they all cohort a standard for writing such reports? Schools have great power to shape mind's. Institutionalised thinking? I do wonder some days!!
