Moving forward

Moving forward

As Monday looms I have been trying to work out how to move forward. Today I started collecting things for my coping box (thanks @Crazy_Bug_Lady). I bought some of my fave chocolates to put in and have been gathering bits and pieces. Happy for any other suggestions as to what to put in. I think I may need one for the car too. I'm thinking I may copy some pieces of wisdom from this forum and print them up to add in.

I'm hoping that I get to write more on this thread than the struggle thread as time goes by. Please feel free to add how you are moving forward as well. 💜😊

I sang chorus in

Der Vampyre ... an opera by Marschner ...

I was a head hanging, big wild curly hair face covering ... mouth covering gal ... sometimes ...

some of neck problem maybe was cos the head hanging ...

Singing is really good cos I had to have good posture and breathe properly

Just looking at Nick Cave videos ... he is such a depressing bastard ... poor bugger ... I was thinking of wagging choir to go to his special release movie-album this week ... but I think I wont .. I'll just check the after effects online later .. I will keep to my path .. and he can keep to his ..

Re: Moving forward

Hey @Appleblossom. I think pride is the opposite to guilt rather than shame. Shame is about character and guilt about behaviour from what I understand. I think therefore that pride is about feeling something good about behaviour. Just my observations. I hope you are well. This is the first I'm reading today. Been a c r a z y day.

Re: Moving forward

Although I was just thinking how can you then be proud of someone but I guess you're proud of a behaviour they've exhibited. Sorry thinking out loud. Can even write out loud 😝

Re: Moving forward

I am really hopeless with feeling words .. i still do quizzes online to try and learn about things that I read in books or that other people talk about.

Not sure about shame being only character and not behaviour .. head hanging is behaviour ... it wasnt based on guilt .. probably just habit, loneliness and exclusion. No-one was going to talk to me ... or notice me ..

I think many emotions can become a part of both character and behaviour.

I have learned a lot in last 25 years of music teaching ...mostly part-time ... but about 6 months fulltime.

Hope there were moments of Good-crazy today @Former-Member

Re: Moving forward

I guess I only know from what I've learned from Brene Brown who researches shame and vulnerability. I really didn't want to drop her name again but I guess I needed to reveal my source. She explains as did my psychologist guilt leads to a change in behaviour where as shame leads to avoiding. She also simplifies it :shame - I am bad, guilt - I did a bad thing. The bad thing in guilt is rectified by maybe an apology and trying not to repeat that again. In shame you just remain bad. @Appleblossom @Faith-and-Hope

Re: Moving forward

The holy bible portrays pride as a sin because it inflates the created more than the creator. But I think taking Pride in your work is different to the sin of pride. It is good to 'do things well' Even God stood back on the 7th day and liked what he had achieved
Shame is 'to hide' from ones nakedness, having been caught & separated, or believing oneself to be judged & set aside...
Just a thought.

Re: Moving forward

I had a @Faith-and-Hope day of plans changing on the run. But it has all worked out so far. One son into the grand final one not but he played well today. I got my car kind of bogged and nearly slid off an embankment and onto another car, was so lucky it didn't and the car stopped sliding with a foot to spare. I have also spent 4 hours driving today. I'm now staying with family who are all in bed for my mums birthday. No dog to cuddle tonight but there is an electric blanket. Had Indian food in a restaurant for the first time in over 3 years and it was yummy. So thanks @Appleblossom ive had some good crazy too.
