Something’s not right

My Mosaic

My Mosaic

My Mosaic

I like mosaic art, I’ve never actually done any, but it intrigued me. Made up of hundreds of tiny pieces of stone, glass and ceramic. If you look at it close up it doesn’t really look like anything special, if anything it looks like a mess. But if you take a step back and view the whole picture- it’s a master piece. I guess it’s kind of like life. So many tiny parts, some messy if we look just at the one part. Some day i guess I’d hope that the mess of my life will at some point look half decent.

So here is part of my mosaic, bits and pieces kept tidy together 🙂

tagging you @Emelia8 cause you asked 🙂

Re: My Mosaic

Sorry @Bow

Got no advice for you. But know how cold people can be towards us.

I hope you are out by your next appt. so you can see her. Does she do phone consults at all?

Re: My Mosaic

It just makes me miss my old psych @Snowie

Doubt I’ll be out by my next appointment…. Haven’t even started ECT yet, if that’s 12 sessions that’s still 4 weeks. And then my psych is away for the whole month of June.

I haven’t even seen the second opinion psychiatrist to sign off on my ECT yet!

Re: My Mosaic

That's not good if they haven't signed off on ECT yet @Bow

I hope it gets started soon.

I haven't even spoken to my psych about her going away yet. Maybe I am just trying to convince myself it's not happening. Just ignore it

Re: My Mosaic

I totally understand wanting to talk to someone you know. @Bow. My therapist is the same. She even avoided me in the supermarket. Couldn’t even say hello. Is your CM in tomorrow? Maybe you could touch base with her then?

I hope you get your ECT signed off soon so you can start and get home.

If I go to hospital it will be private so I’m following along to see the difference between public and private.

Re: My Mosaic

@Snowie @Captain24 My nurse for the afternoon just popped in…. I was sprawled out on the floor laying on my acupressure mat!

He gave me a heap of paper work to complete for ECT. And then he had 2 pieces of paper work that he had to complete with me… counting backwards, listing the months backwards! And then he went and showed me the room where they do ECT. I appreciated that. And he said that I would see the second psychiatrist tomorrow ready for me to start ECT on Friday. I may be starting to freak out a little now.

@Captain24 someone who’s now been in both public and private, there is a big difference. I don’t want any of this to come out the wrong way… so please forgive me if it does! But from what I can see the majority of people in private want to be here. I guess they make the choice to pay the premiums for better care. There are no aggressive patients here, not that I’ve seen. There is no yelling or screaming or people over the top losing their cool. I had to sign a no harm agreement. That I agreed to not self harm. If you do sh twice then your case is reviewed. I guess they don’t take the crap that you would get in the public system?
The days are structured too. I was told groups were compulsory. Although some don’t attend. People come and go. Afternoons here are more flexible, it’s all diversional therapy… art, music, sensory, gym, gardening, pet therapy.
I think I would appreciate one on one psychology sessions. But from what I can see that’s not offered here.

Re: My Mosaic

You're right @Bow .

The patients in private are less acute. Private don't really deal with the 'high-risk' patients.

When I spoke to private in the past, they do a a risk assessment and if deemed too high risk, they tell you to come back later.

I don't think you'll have an issue in private. Public might be a bit traumatic for a first time.... (from my experience). @Captain24

Re: My Mosaic

Agreed @tyme no high risk patients here.

I have a lot of traumatic memories from my time in the public mental health wards…. Back in my 20s. So if private is your first experience @Captain24 it should be much nicer.

@tyme how are you? How’s your day been?

Re: My Mosaic

@tyme @Bow @Captain24

The private hospital I go into does deal with 'high risk' patients but they are in a different area of the hospital. They are very closely monitored and have no leave at all. The ratio of patients to nurse is very different from a general ward. I have been in both areas of the hospital before.

Hey @Bow ,

I'm reading along. I hope you find that strength within you to fight on.

I hear it is hard.

We are with you.

Re: My Mosaic

That's really good @Snowie . I'm glad they have a place for those who need it.

I was actually devastated when I was turned away from so many private clinics due to me being too high-risk.
