Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Hi @NatureLover I think it's very healthy to look for your special person, and builds on the courage and selfesteem you've been working so hard for. Having a good support network of friends has no doubt helped.

Ì resisted getting up and facing the day but have breakfasted and showered so can try to get through some chores with you. I'll start with laundry - the warm day and strong wind should get it dry although it's late.

Thanks for your kind words.

I faffed around joining a second dating app this morning, this one free. But I did do the watering and made some bread.

I will work with you now!

Hope your chores are going OK. Especially as you didn't want to get up this morning.

Well done, @Dimity !

And a lovely day for a walk.

I did an hour 20 mins but didn't finish. Have stopped now, will have to do more tomorrow.

Thanks for cleaning with me, that helped 🙂

I still need to deal with the washing and make my bed. I haven't exercised or done enough decluttering...

We had a branch down. It damaged a car. A friend in another suburb lost a tree. It took down her fence and landed across a neighbour's driveway. Hope your big tree was ok.

Oh gosh re trees / branches down! I haven't been outside yet this morning, I'll have to see. The big tree was obviously OK as I didn't hear anything in the night.

Were you able to make your bed and do the washing?

I need to go out to the chemist and supermarket at 9 this morning. Then tidy and clean before the Electrical Safety Check from 1-4. They test all power points, examine blind cords and the aircon filters. Am dreading it as they touch so much in the house.

Your two friend catch-ups must be coming up soon?

Bother! I couldn't face the day so stayed in bed till 9am. Now I am running too late to go out to the chemist and then have a shower and hairwash afterwards. As well as do all the tidying.

Will have to go to the chemist etc tomorrow on a work morning. I should've done more tidying on the weekend.

Hope you wake up doing better then me!

Hope you got through the inspection and pre- and post- cleaning ok @NatureLover .

I finished my chores very late. I'm struggling with sleep routines.

Today was a write-off but I was glad to have a pedicure.

I badly need to reimagine and reinvent my life. I've lost my decluttering streak and will have to start again. I'll have to restart my exercise program too.

Re outings, I went out with a couple I regard as family over a week ago and they didn't seem too thrilled or maybe I was catastrophising. I'm not sure if I'm still going to meet another friend next weekend. We've never arranged to meet up before - I've suggested things a few times but she's never been interested. But she texts a lot.

I've been nervous of trying the new knitting groups, I'm not really a knitter and have been upset by previous snubs.

I'm quite low and need to make the effort to catch some morning sunshine. Were you using your lightbox over winter?

Re: Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Sorry you feel so low, @Dimity . i can hear you're in a slump. 🫂

You are the best person I know at re-starting and persevering.

Your outing sounds disappointing 😣 but well done for arranging it and going out socially.

Regarding the knitting groups, is there anything you'd like to knit? Or would it be purely for the social outing?

I was using my therapy lamp over winter, but sometimes just 5 or 10 minutes a day due to itchiness.

Yesterday I actually had a good morning of cleaning and tidying. I cleared all the bags on the floor and did the small bench and half of the long bench. The rest of the long bench won't take long, but it's a work day today.

The man didn't touch too much yesterday other than what he had to, thankfully.

I hope you feel a bit stronger today 🤞

I have yarn and patterns for projects but it would mainly be for the connection @NatureLover

I'm glad you're trying to stay on top of your kitchen. I'm not really on top of anything atm. And it really will feel like starting again - and I don't know where or how.

Had a long chat to my reclusive neighbour.
