Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Lard in rolls sounds a bit unusual but might give a crispy crust... certainly not heart- or vegan-friendly. Many years ago I lived in the inner suburbs with a French bakery around the corner. Fresh still-warm croissants and brioches for Saturday breakfast, and gorgeous strawberry tarts.

I'm feeling a bit unwelcome at my gp, but most visits lately have been recalls for test referrals and results. I've had some anomalous results, nothing seriously wrong but outside the normal range and inconsistent. It shouldn't matter but of course I've been very low for ages.

I'm sorry the worry is catching up with you. I'd have been shocked at not being able to renew the lease after a long tenure.

Re my need for change, I meant the whole catastrophe of my life and circumstances. Perhaps a support worker could help a little, noone else seems able to. I was knocked back when I tried a lawyer and family therapist and various other support people and services. If noone can give helpful advice or intervene it's up to me, but I'm stuck. The clutter is just s symptom or endproduct of everything else. In my experience that's probably true for many hoarders.

I don't like to mention it, but you may need to consider getting back to some of the stuff in the shed. It would be daunting, I know. I have a mountain of stuff too.

It's been well over a week since I lost the plot on diet and exercise. My sleep has been disrupted too. All red flags. I wish I knew how to quell my anxiety.

Hope your Wednesday break from work is positive @NatureLover and we see things getting better.

Your sleep is still disrupted, @Dimity ? That's not good that this red flag is continuing 😥 Sorry to hear about the diet and exercise too.

I would have thought your anomalous test results would have been clues as to why you're so low. So that's bad that the GP dismissed them. Would you consider a second opinion?

Thanks for explaining your need for change. You do seem to really benefit from having a support worker.

You know, I had forgotten all about the boxes in the shed. Normally they become more of a focus in spring as I psych up to maybe tackle them in summer. But I seem to have so much else going on. The dating is my main focus at the moment.

I may have to do a bit of extra work today and tomorrow if my boss calls on me. I said I was available (around the coffee catch up today and another one tomorrow).

That French bakery sounds lovely. I enjoy having a good quality bakery around the corner too.

Hope things will start to look up for you very soon 🤞

Hope you sorted out the extra work @NatureLover .

Yes I'd thought my test results might explain things too but I've been tested 3 times now and they vary so much the gp doesn't believe them. A different thing wrong each time. So I'm pushing myself to try to get back on track as I'm presuming ìt must be just my mh instead. It's not a good feeling.

Re your boxes I'm just concerned you might be faced with a decision at very short notice and I know how difficult I'd find that. But I do tend to catastrophise in the name of contingency planning. I guess thar's why I'm so anxious.

I got a little more done today. I plan to go out tomorrow with the social support provider to some sort of event.

I trust your workdays were rewarding @NatureLover .

I went to yesterday's seniors event - I guess I enjoyed it, it was pretty low key and I sat with people I'd met through exercise group. Today I worked on chores and lodged my tax return. Getting up a bit earlier seems to give me more time in the day. I hope I can sustain it. There's heaps to catch up on, so I'll be busy if I can actually do it.

Hi @Dimity , am so pleased you enjoyed the seniors event! Low key would've been good for you? How often will they be having these?

Regarding the 3 different things wrong in your tests, that seems odd that the GP doesn't believe any of them. Might they all be true?

You are getting up earlier and I'm getting up later and later! I woke up so late yesterday on my work day - this has been happening a bit. It's a worry. I didn't do extra work on Weds or Thurs but am doing some today. Today looks so bleak without it.

Regarding the boxes in the shed, if I had to move suddenly I would just take them with me. So unfortunately I'm not too worried about them.

I met a new friend on Thursday for coffee. A local bisexual woman. We are trying to build local lesbian and bisexual community. A small group of us have a meeting tomorrow at a cafe for the first time. I haven't rearranged a date with my date yet, am waiting for her to be ready.

Well done on the chores and completing your tax return. I hope today you can achieve what you want to. I'm not sure you'll get much of a walk if this rain continues.

Building community sounds great @NatureLover and increases your chances of finding your special person through the connections you make.

Gosh the rain was heavy today. My guttering overflowed. I hope it didn't also back up into the ceiling. I walked to the supermarket after the weather cleared.

I'm very relieved to have done my tax, and to have sorted the paperwork. I should finish filing it tonight.

Good luck for tomorrow. Will you be working again? I need to weed the garden, I've been neglecting it.
