Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

I didn't make it to the Repair Cafe. No, you don't have to book. Maybe next month.

I didn't make it out in the sunshine either. But I did force myself to go out for a few groceries.

Today I have my psychologist appt. But I forgot to get a MHCP so I'll have to pay for it myself. Am kicking myself as money is very tight. I want to go as I missed last month's appt due to the rental inspection.

How do you feel today? Do you still have the heart symptoms? They're a worry 😥

You sound a bit down @NatureLover . I hope the psychologist helped.

I'm still nqr. But I started tackling some admin tasks I've had a block about. I've also been fairly consistent about my daily smidgen of decluttering the last fortnight, it's not enough to see progress but has taken mental effort. I know I'm not spending enough time on it.

I guess your trees are leafing now. I hope they look ok after the storm damage and trimming.

You probably had a busy workday @NatureLover . Hope you're ok. Sorry you had to take on financial worries to get help from your psychologist.

I saw mine today. I'm second guessing it now. Hopefully that negativity will pass.

Your SAD should be lifting as we approach the Spring equinox. I think the unsettled weather is related too.

Sorry I missed the forums yesterday, @Dimity . I woke up late before a busy work day. I'm OK, thanks.

Had another night of terrible nightmares. Must drink more water.

I'm sorry to hear your psychologist appt was hard and not helpful yesterday. 😥

Well done on tackling admin tasks and decluttering.

My S.A.D. usually lasts through till the end of October. But I have to say it's been not as bad as usual so far this year. My psychologist did help, thanks.

Apparently the landlord has agreed to having the massive tree down that lost the huge branch in January. Not sure when, though. It's so close to the houses that it will be a huge, difficult task. (It's about a metre from the closest verandah.)

Got 2 days at home now, unless I go out for library books. I'm starting to collect my neighbours' cans and bottles too, to recycle for the 10c return. I'm raising money for the charity I volunteer for. So I might go out and do that for the first time.

I want to do lots of tidying today if possible, once I get up.

I'm still worried about your heart symptoms.

Good on you with the cans and bottles @NatureLover .

Nightmares are awful, I hope being hydrated helps - for me it's more to do with the c-ptsd I think.

The tree sounds a big and expensive job.

I exercised today, my palpitations and dizziness were a bit better.

I've moved onto decluttering old research notes, although I haven't finished the letters. It's overwhelming.

So glad to hear your palpitations and dizziness were slightly improved yesterday.

Do you have a daily limit for the research notes, like you did for the letters?

I ended up catching up on my volunteer work all day yesterday. Today I need to go out to pick up library books, not sure what else yet. I really need to clean and tidy today.

I've only just started on the research stuff @NatureLover and am not yet clear on what I'm wanting to do with it. But it's making more mess in my livingroom!

Glad you're still reading. I need to too. It might help me settle at night.

Fair enough regarding your research notes.

Unfortunately sorting stuff out does make more mess.

Yes, I find reading helps me to wind down at night, unlike scrolling on my phone.

i have no excuse today not to clean and tidy! I'm home all day.

What are your plans for the day?

Re: Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hope you were happy with your day @NatureLover , however much you achieved. I made an effort to catch up on chores, but there's more than I could cope with. And lots of clutter. I'll try to work on what's around before unpacking any more.

I'll have to get to the pharmacy tomorrow, I'm nearly out of eyedrops. Hopefully it will be a more productive day.

Good luck with your weekend chores.

Hi @Dimity , I only achieved laundry yesterday. And lots of walks, seeing as the weather was so nice.

But I have a rental Safety Electrical Check on Monday, so must clean and tidy today as if for an inspection. They even check your aircon filters, which I must clean.

Want to clean / declutter with me today?

That's good you did chores yesterday. Good idea to tidy and sort what you have out in your house already.

I have some news. I've joined a lesbian dating site. I've always been with men before, but never enjoyed it. Was very repressed, plus also just surviving mentally so no room to explore my identity. My psychologist asked me if I would regret not following up on it in 10 years' time, and I had to agree with her. I'm 55 so this is probably my last chance.

Let me know if you want to declutter and report back today 🙂
