Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Your heart? Oh no, @Dimity Surely mild heart problems are still serious? Especially if they're making you feel unwell!

I'm glad to hear you say you're looking forward to seeing your psychologist. You've never said that before.

Thanks for your kind words. ❤️

Today am at home. I've woken up late again (been doing that a lot lately) and am hoping to feel energised enough later to tidy and clean.

I hope your home help goes OK today 🤞 And that waking up early isn't too painful.

Just wondering if @scruffypuffball is still around after all the changes.

i woke at 7 @NatureLover . Still unwell. Hope your day went well.

Home help was uneventful apart from trying to avoid discussing politics.

Since the beginning of September I've culled 100 documents. It's made no difference to the clutter but has been hard work. Still more to be done...

Well done for waking up early yesterday, @Dimity . I'm glad the home help was mostly uneventful.

Sorry you're still feeling unwell, though. Do you think you will get it checked out?

I'm impressed you've dealt with 100 documents just since the start of September.

I.had a quiet day at home, with laundry, reading and a very little tidying. Today is a work day.

I wondered, do you still have to sign in every time you open the forums? I do. I never used to have to do that.

@NatureLover I'm finding forum logins very unpredictable. I leave the box checked to remain logged in on my device so I don't always have to login, but often do, and often have my login terminated mid-session while browsing or even composing replies. It's disappointing.

It sounds like it's been a calm couple of days for you. I hope you won't suffer the weekend blues.

I felt a bit better today but still avoided doing much. I can't face following it up with the gp. I've been unable to do my exercise program for nearly a week.

Sorry you've been unwell enough to not be able to do your exercise programme, @Dimity . 😥 But I can understand not being able to face going to the GP.

I had no idea the forums logged you out sometimes, even mid-reply. I agree, that's very disappointing. I also leave the box ticked to stay logged in, but it never does nowadays.

I'm still in bed at 10am, so am not sure yet about the weekend blues, but it's likely. However, tomorrow I might go out to a Repair Cafe to get my secateurs sharpened. I'll see how I feel tomorrow.

I might do a little work today, and also prepare my notes for my psychologist appt on Monday. I don't feel motivated to tidy / clean.

I hope you start to feel better very soon, physically and mentally.

It's unlike you to have such a late start @NatureLover . Are you ok?

It's lucky you have some work to do, I know you enjoy it. You can come back to the chores when you're ready. Maybe you can also get some time in the sun.

I'm going out this afternoon. A very rare social outing I initiated. I'm a bit nervous and hope it goes better than the last time I saw the people.

Hope you avoided the blues @NatureLover .

My outing was disappointing but I'm proud of myself for trying.

Fingers crossed we get our chores done tomorrow, and I get back to my exercises.

Re: Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Thanks for asking if I'm OK. I'm a bit down on myself at the moment. @Dimity

Yes, I'm lucky to have this work I can do from home.

I feel down this morning and uncertain about going to the Repair Cafe. It starts at 10am so I have to decide soon. I'm still in bed.

Well done for initiating the social outing. I'm sorry it was disappointing. 😥

I hope you feel up to your chores and your exercises today 🤞

I'd encourage you to go @NatureLover ... seeing people and getting your secateurs sharpened might lift your mood. Did you have to book for the Repair Cafe? You do with ours.

Have a good day my friend and get some sunshine if you can.
